In the Best in the Desert Quad Expert class, the number 440 of Don Higbee and Michael Swift claimed not only the class win but also BITD Expert class championship. Swift, who is the faster rider of the team, rode for most of the race.

“We had a good game plan coming in here with a bigger fuel tank so we didn’t have to stop so much and that really paid off for us. We battled it out a little early in the race but when I handed the quad off to Don on the last lap we had a good lead of six minutes,” Swift explained.

“I finished out the race. It was a great track. We put Michael, our best asset out there first and he got it done. We had a flawless season with no DNF’s. A lot of thanks goes to our crew for doing such a great job and helping us to win another championship,” said Higbee.

The number 425 team of Paul Engen put in a hard charge and kept pace with the leaders for the first lap before settling in and taking a second place finish, while #415 Gilbert Davila came in just two minutes behind second place to round out the top three in the Quad Expert class.

In the Quad Ironman class, Zack Richardson claimed the win. This was Richardson’s first ever BITD race and his top finish fueled his ambition to run the whole series next season.

“This was my first time racing the BITD series. It was a lot of fun. I always wanted to race this and I finally got my quad dialed in so I got out here and had a blast. I caught up to the leader in the first lap and got by and then just kind of pulled away. I had a great time and I am planning to run the whole series next season,” said Richardson.

Racers will not get much of a break between seasons as round one of the 2015 Best in the Desert series kicks off with the Parker 250 in Parker, AZ on January 9-10, where CT Racing’s Danny Prather and David Scott will be going for their fifth consecutive championship.
