Best in the Desert - Silver
State 300 - ATV Race Report
::Continued::
ELKA’s Matt Hancock took control once again at
pit six and was running strong, but ended up going
off course. “There were some markers down, and
I got off course about ¾ of a mile. I was able
to get back on track, but it did cost us,” said
Matt Hancock.
Jeff Hancock was the one to race the final portion
of the Silver State 300 and put in an amazing
effort. “At one point I heard on the radio that
there was only an eight second gap between us
and second place so I really pushed hard and I
was able to pull a nice gap, and we got the win.
We had a good day, and I am really happy we pulled
it off,” said Jeff Hancock.

win by a slim margin of just over one minute |
“It was a crazy day, but we still pulled off
the win and we are really excited about that.
Even with all the dust our Pro Motorsports quad
ran great and our Maxxis Tires and Tire Blocks
held up. Overall it was a good race. This is three
wins in a row and it’s really huge for us. I always
looked up to my brother when he was racing and
now I am racing with him, so this is really amazing
for me,” said Matt Hancock.
Maxxis’ Danny Prather and David Scott were third
off the line and fought with a lot of dust early
in the race. “We ate a lot of dust off the line
but we stayed close to the Hancock’s and Trent
Kendall for about the first 100 miles. We got
around Trent but the Hancock’s pulled a good lead,”
said Danny Prather, who started the race.

Prather and Scott closed in on the Hancock brothers
once again towards the end of the race but were
unable to take over the lead and finished in a
very close second place. “Everything worked awesome
for us out there, and we tried to reel them in
but we fell short this time. We got to about eight
seconds behind, and we got hung up at a road crossing.
We have to stop for traffic on the highway, so
it cost us a little time, but I don’t know if
it would have made that much of a difference.
We will be back trying again though at Vegas to
Reno,” said David Scott.

Trent Kendall and Conrad Funk started out second
and put in a hard charge. Kendall was able to
stay ahead of Prather and Scott for about the
first half of the race but when they were forced
to stop and change their air filter, they dropped
back to third. “It was so dusty out there. We
stopped to change our air filter and that’s when
Prather and Scott got ahead of us. I ended up
getting off course a bit because some of the markers
were down but that didn’t cost me too much time.
Overall it was a good race and I am happy with
third,” said Kendall.
