HOLZ Racing Short Course Race |
There were four races held at the UTV World Championship
with the short course UTV race, sponsored by Holz
Racing, being the final race of the day. Racers
lined up for the land rush start and left the
starting line at around 3pm with many of the top
contenders starting on the second row.
|
There
was 68 SxS entries for the HOLZ Racing's
Polaris RZR UTV World Championship Short
Course race, which started at 3PM with 15
UTV racers per row for the dead engine land
rush start |
After the morning ATV/motorcycle race, long course
desert race, and youth SXS race, the conditions
for the short course race were brutal and dusty
so the racers on the first row certainly had an
advantage. The #907 of Canadian racer, Bryce Lamont,
grabbed the holeshot, but his lead was short lived
after he encountered issues after just a couple
of laps.

The number 991 of Magnum Offroad racer, Jacob
Shaw, was poised and ready to take over the lead
once Lamont fell back. Shaw, who had gotten off
to a last place start, had made an impressive
charge through the challenging course and took
over the lead in lap three and held the number
one spot all the way to the checkered flag for
his first ever Pro Production 1000 BITD win along
with the first place prize, a 2015 Polaris RZR
XP 1000.

Jacob Shaw took over the lead a few laps
into the UTV World Championship short course
race |
“As soon as I started my car, it went into limp
mode, so I had to turn it off and restart it.
I ended up having to battle with everyone and
the dust to get out front but my Polaris RZR performed
great out there and gave me the win. I am still
kind of shocked that we took the win but it feels
great and I sure hope we can do it again,” said
Shaw.

GMZ's
Jacob Shaw was able to hold onto the lead
to take the checkered flag for th win by
a slim margin of less than ten seconds ahead
of second place finisher, Richie Laatz |
