Branden Sims held the physical lead from
start to finish on Saturday, but finished
in 5th with corrected time & he rounded
out the top 3 overall on the weekend |
“I couldn’t see anyone, so I assumed that I had
a pretty big lead, and I didn’t want to tear up
the car, but apparently everyone else didn’t,
and they got me in the end. I had idea they were
moving up that quick, so there are disadvantages
to starting up front because you don’t know what
the pace will be starting up front,”
After an 8th place finish on Saturday, Zemak
came back to finish top three on Sunday, which
scored him a fourth place finish on the weekend.

Brothers Jason and Derek Murray were running
in the top five all weekend. They had a computer
glitch at the end of the race that slowed them.

“Our goal was to run consistently and keep the
car together on day one,” said Derek Murray. “We
knew the second day was going to be rougher and
we knew the long wheelbase car was better when
it’s rough. We weren’t happy with our pace on
day one so we pushed harder on day two. Unfortunately,
about four miles from the finish, the car went
into limp mode. Luckily we were running at 75
mph when it happened and we coasted for awhile.”

Jason Murray was also pleased with their finish,
as well as their unofficial third place in points.
“This was a drag race-style event,” said Murray.
“Finishing in the top five and being third in
points puts us in the hunt. The Vegas to Reno
race is more suited to our style of racing. We
like the long and technical events.”
