2014 AMA Racing ATV Extreme Dirt Track Nationals Round #4 - Ashtabula, OH Pine Lake July 19, 2014

With the Pro and Pro-Am mains locked up, it was time to unleash the horsepower of the Pro-Am Unlimited class.

Wolff Motorsports / Custom Axis / Maul Tech ATV / Fox Head’s Nathan Wolff hasn’t touched the top of the podium yet in the Unlimited class this season, until this past weekend in Ohio. Wolff started off his winning run by coming out of the holeshot in third place behind Pippard Performance’s Michael Houghton and Garrett Keister who pulled the holeshot.

Wolff worked his way around Houghton within the first lap and then by Keister only a few turns later. With a clear track ahead of him, Wolff poured on the coal and came away with the checkered flag!

“My Wolff Motorsports Honda ran awesome today and we really had the track dialed in with our setup. My MAXXIS tires and Custom Axis suspension where working great together and got me off the line really well and I was able to pick off Houghton and Keister early on and ride my race up front. I’m happy with the way the weekend went and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season,” said Wolff.

H&H Extreme ATV / DASA / ESJ Graphics / Yamaha of Harrison’s Garret Keister is undoubtedly the youngest racer in the EDT Pro ranks but does not let this stop him from competing on the biggest stages of racing. Keister got off the line like a firecracker and rocketed into the first corner with the holeshot and proceeded to lead the first lap.

After the first lap, Keister came under heavy pressure from Wolff and gave up the position for a few moments and then gathered it back up for a few more corners! After this battle Keister eventually dropped back to second place but never let off the gas and held this position for the remainder of the contest.

Tru-Way Racing / Hoosier / Rath Racing / Fischer Cycle Racing’s Kris “Tiffer” Bures has been a long-time competitor in the EDT series and Pine Lake has always been a bit of a “home” track for Bures and he proved he has what it takes to run with the best racers in the world. Bures came off the line with a sixth place start and had his work cut out for him as the front leaders battled for position.

Bures held tight and never wavered from his lines and slowly picked his way past Michael Houghton,Colter Loshbaugh, and Brian Demarmels in order to get up and into third place. By the time Bures got to this position, Wolff had a sizable lead over Keister who was running in second and the rest of the pack. At the same time, Houghton was closing in on Bures but ran out of time, allowing Bures to press on and take the third place spot on the podium.

The next round of the series will be held at the Famous Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota during Bike Week and will surely be one of, if not the biggest stage for ATV Extreme Dirt Track racing to be a proponent of.
