Yamaha's
Bil Ballance battles through pain with
broken ribs to secure his 7th Podium finish
this year |
Yamaha mounted Bill Ballance would enter this
event nursing broken ribs suffered during preparations
for this week. Although in pain, the champion
did not allow it to keep him from running up front
and securing the #2 spot on the podium and solidifying
his points lead. This isn’t the first time
we have seen an injured Ballance not only compete,
but be in contention for the win. Ballance’s
points lead has exceeded 30 points, and with only
three rounds left, Ballance is on his way to wrapping
up his 9th straight championship if he can continue
to finish on the podium in the final rounds.

Jarrod
McClure makes his 2nd Podium apperance
in 3 races |
ATVriders.com backed Jarrod McClure once again
found the podium with his 3rd place finish. McClure
has been charging to the front in past rounds
and is becoming a threat to well known names as
he knocks them out of top finishing positions.
McClure could be looking at a single digit number
for next season if he can keep up the pressure
and pace. McClure’s performance almost ended
on the last lap when he became stuck on a bad
hill climb, but persevered and rode to the finish
line taking away the final podium position.

Johnny
Gallagher is chasing after a single digit
number as he moves up to 12th Overall
after another 4th place finish |
Johnny Gallagher swept in behind McClure to
take the 4th position, and this marks the second
4th place finish in the past two races that
Gallagher has been within striking distance
of the podium. Physical training, positive mental
attitude and a willingness to do better are
what Gallagher credits his recent surge in finishing
positions to. A bottleneck early in the race
set him back and if not for this, Gallagher
might have well been in a better position to
race for a podium spot earlier in the event.
If he can carry this effort to the coming rounds,
we should see a new name start gracing the podium
and the sky is the limit for this talented rider
in 2009!
Brandon Sommers has been having a solid season,
and at almost every round this season he has
shown he can run up front. This round would
be no different as he finished in the 5th spot.
With McGill’s win, Sommers falls 1 point
behind to the 4th spot in XC1 points and I expect
to see Sommers pushing harder then ever as we
head to the final 3 rounds of competition.
XC2 rider, Tyler Lenig had an impressive showing
at this round, running his way to the front
of the pack and at one point, was in contention
to find the overall podium by time calculations!
In the end, Lenig won the XC2 class and settled
for 7th overall, a great performance!
