Adam McGill was one rider people were counting
on to keep hopes alive for a final round showdown
for the points chase. McGill did his best but
came up short with his 4th place finish as the
battle ended along with hopes of a win. Adam
now sits poised to fend off Bryan Cook and Chris
Borich along with Brandon Sommers who all remain
very close in points. The final round should
be fierce as those in the middle do all they
can to gain every position for the year end
points. 18 points separate 2nd through 5th setting
up one of the tightest points battles we have
seen in some time.
Just outside the top 5, other racers are separated
by only a few points that will make the final
round just as intense for them. Taylor Kiser
holds the 5th position and a 10 point lead over
William Yokely. Kiser finished 15th at Power
Line after breaking a foot peg which sent him
back in the running order. From Yokely, only
7 points remain until we reach Matt Smiley who
is tied with Ryan Lane and only 1 point is keeping
Jarrod McClure from another step up the ladder
to 7th. The action should be off the hook at
Ironman as these riders give it their all!

Yamaha's
Traci Cecco secures yet another win,
but the championship will come down
the final round
|
Looking at the Women’s Class, Traci Cecco
and Angel Atwell remain locked with a 1 point
separation! The pair continues to keep everyone
on pins and needles as their year long battle
will finally be settled at the Ironman. Atwell
remained close to Cecco all day until becoming
dismounted from her machine. From her podium
comments, the kill tether ripped from her gear
allowing the atv to keep going down a hill where
spectators were able to run it down and stop
it for her!
The Super Senior class has been dominated for
many years by the highly talented John Gallagher
Sr. John stated at the beginning of the season
he wanted some competition to keep things fun
and he got it! Gallagher holds a slight edge
over fellow senior racer John Kenney Jr. and
Robert Conkle. This win marks Gallagher’s
8th win of the season.
Other classes remain super tight as only 1
or 2 points decide the eventual winners. The
Ironman will provide the ultimate test as those
that can make it all work will be crowned champions.
In Schoolboy, Walker Fowler is just 12 points
out of first as Hunter Dahlrymple and Cody Parmerter
remain tied for the lead at 169 points.
What an exciting event the final round should
be! With so many classes waiting to crown champions,
and the general year end atmosphere found at
the last round, anyone missing out should be
kicking themselves! Round #13 will bring to
a close a season where we all witnessed a huge
surge in Factory sponsorship and attendance
and the growth of the sport to another level.
While we all have our fingers crossed that the
economy will allow even more support for racers
and the series, several privateers have been
showing they have what it takes and did so out
of their own wallets as round after round they
compete with big money and support. We wish
everyone a safe and victorious race at the final
round of our 2008 season!
