Adam McGill ran strong all day, but barb-wire
wrapped around his wheel cost him a spot
on the podium |
McGill was looking incredibly fast, but shortly
into the final lap, McGill ended up having a close
encounter with barb-wire that allowed Chris Borich,
Taylor Kiser and His Teammate Chris Bithell to
get by, leaving McGill to settle for a fourth
place finish. “I was sliding around this
corner and I caught some barbed wire and it just
took my quad,” stated McGill, who is determined
to be on the podium at the next round in Georgia.
As the leaders charged on, there was big battle
brewing for fifth place between Bryan Cook and
Jarrod McClure. Cooke, who had led briefly in
the first lap, came under fire from Borich and
McGill and dropped back, but the fight was not
over. After a good battle McClure was able to
get around Cooke, but Cooke stayed close and
when it came time to pit, Cooke was able to
get out ahead of McClure and hold on to fifth
place to round out the top five. McClure, who
stayed on Cooke's grab bar, would have to settle
for sixth.

Yamaha's Bill Ballance is back in the
race line-up for 2011 with his special
9x number plate to commemorate his 9 straight
GNCC Championships, but unfortunately
for Ballance, his race ended after just
two laps due to a steering stem issue
|
Bill Ballance, who was running a special 9x
silver commemorative plate, was doing well,
but two miles into the first lap, Ballance hit
a tree and sheered the splines right off his
steering stem. Ballance pulled into the pits
to switch it out, but was too far back to be
able to make up any time so he decided to call
it a day.
