|
Snowshoe, WV (6/25/2011)
- With a $5,000.00 purse on the line, the competition
was fierce as racers charged through the challenging
course, and while Chris Borich was a favorite
for the win, it was Can-Am/Warnert Racing’s
Adam McGill who would surprise everyone by taking
the overall victory in the afternoon classes at
the coveted Snowshoe round of the 2011 GNCC series.
Joining McGill on the podium in second was teammate
Chris Bithell, with Yamaha/Ballance Racing’s
Walker Fowler taking the Pro-am win and another
top three overall finish.

GNCC
ATV Racing returns to Snowshoe, WV for
the 5th straight year, which is a great
family venue, but it is brutal on the
racers and machines |
Centered around the notorious Black Water 100
course, which has the standing reputation as
one of the toughest courses ever in the history
of ATV racing, the Snowshoe round of the GNCC
has become one of the most popular rounds in
the circuit, not only because of the big purse
up for grabs, but also because of the Snowshoe
resort’s amenities, and special features
of the event, that includes the GNCC University
and the annual GNCC golf tournament which are
both very popular and fun for all who participate.

A
large crowd of spectators gathered along
the side of the pavement for the grand
prix style start of the Snowshoe GNCC
& among the spectators was a very
special guest, Josh Kirkland (above right).
Josh claimed the 2009 GNCC XC2 Pro-Am
Champion before suffering a back injury
last year, which sidelined him from racing,
but it great having him back at the track
& we wish him the best with his recovery |
The start of the Snowshoe round is set up a
little different than other GNCC races as each
class starts with five racers leaving the line
at five second intervals, with the fastest time
taking the win. This system has caused both
confusion and upset in previous rounds, and
this round would be no exception.

Can-Am
/ Warnert Racing's #3 Adam McGill charged
his way into the lead by the end of lap
three & held it to the checkered flag
to claim the overall win & $5,000
paycheck |
Can-Am/Warnert Racing’s Adam McGill came
from a mid-pack start to claim the overall win
and take home a $5,000.00 paycheck. McGill was
in the number four spot early in the first lap
and moved into third by lap two. From there,
McGill picked off teammate Chris Bithell and
Chris Borich.
“We came up to this big mud hole and
Bithell went one way and Borich went the other
around it. I plowed right through the middle
of it and came out ahead of both of them,”
said McGill. From there McGill put the hammer
down and never looked back as he charged his
way to the checkered flag. McGill’s win
also allowed him to catch up to Borich in points
and is only trailing by seven points. “It
was a rough race out there and I am super stoked
to take the win. It still hasn’t really
sunk in that I did win,” said McGill after
the race.
