GNCC SxS Racing - Round 2 -
Race Report
::Continued::
Can-Am/Racer Tech’s Marcus Pratt, who stepped
up to the XC1 class this season, ran a strong
race. Pratt started out in mid-pack but was able
to pick off the competition and work his way through
the bottlenecks and mud holes. In the final lap,
Pratt took over fourth place and held it all the
way to the checkered flag. “There is definitely
a learning curve coming from the XC2 to the XC1
class. There is a much faster pace, but I had
enough power to run with the top guys and keep
it going all the way to the finish,” said Pratt.

Rounding out the top five in the XC1 was none
other than Daryl Rath. Rath came from the back
of the pack in 21st and hammered his way through
traffic in a remarkable charge. Rath stayed the
course and in the final lap, moved up for a fifth
place finish.

John Kletz, in the #401 Can-Am, came from 30th
place in the first lap and finished in a respectable
sixth place.
Can-Am’s Larry Hendershot, Jr. had a good start
and was running in a strong second place early
in the race but in the final lap, the mud proved
to be too much. “There was a lot of mud out there
and we were lucky to be in second for most of
the race. We caught up to a lapper in the final
few hundred yards and we went for a pass and our
belt went. We were able to finish in seventh and
I am pretty happy about that with how things went
at the end,” said Hendershot Jr.

Cross Kirchmeier took his Polaris from a mid-pack
start and put it inside the top ten for an eighth
place finish. Kirchmeier was the final racer in
his class to complete four laps.
Can-Am’s Kyle Chaney started out strong in the
number six spot and worked into the top three.
Chaney was still in third in the final lap and
was looking for a podium finish, but a blown belt
kept that from happening and ended his day in
ninth place. “We were having a good race. We blew
by a few people and had worked up to third. We
were running really strong but all that mud really
took a toll. We were in third and in the final
lap we blew a belt. Overall, I am really happy
with how we did and we are hoping to be on the
podium at the next round,” said Chaney.
Can-Am’s Zac Zakowski was looking good off the
start and running in fifth. Zakowski was running
in sixth place in the third lap, but a belt issue
sidelined his efforts, putting him in tenth place
at the checkered flag.
