Bryan Buckhannon Takes 4x4
Pro ATV GNCC Win
::Continued::
In the 4x4 Pro ATV class, Bryan Buckhannon was
on a mission to take back the points lead and
charged off the start in the number two spot.
Buckhannon stayed close to Jordan Phillips, who
was in the lead and made the pass on him late
in the first lap. From that point, Buckhannon
checked out and pulled a good lead over the rest
of his class and the pack. “I felt really good
out there. My Can-Am handled really well out there,
it was more like a Sunday Drive for me. I ended
up with a huge lead in my class, but I had to
play it safe and smart, so I still had a little
left if needed,” said Buckhannon.

Buckhannon was holding down the physical lead
when Schoolboy Sr. class racers Hart and Glauda
caught up to him. Buckhannon let them by and continued
to race his own race. “Winning races is good,
but the championship is what it’s all about,”
said Buckhannon, who took his class win and third
on the morning podium.

Quad Boss’ Buckhannon’s strong performance at
Big Buck put him back in the points lead in the
4x4 Pro class and gave him a nine point advantage,
which has him on track for another championship.
“I am really happy to be back in the points lead
and I am hoping to stay there and come home with
another championship at the end of the season,”
said Buckhannon.
STI Tire’s Jordan Phillips had an excellent
start in the 4x4 Pro class after grabbing the
holeshot and leading most of the first lap. “I
had a good ride today. I got the holeshot and
led for a while but I blew a turn and Bryan got
by me. I stayed in second and had a couple challenges
from third, but I held it and finished in second
so I am really happy with how my race went today,”
said Phillips.

Zac Zakowski was in midpack in the first lap
of the 4x4 Pro class. Zakowski kept moving and
in the final two laps, he was able to take over
third and held it for two laps and crossed the
finish line in third in his class. “The course
was really rough out there and hard packed; I
almost wish it would have rained a little. The
class is so competitive this year and missing
out and trying to get back up to that level and
beyond is difficult, but I am making progress
and I am glad to finish in the top three,” said
Zakowski.
