GBC Heartland Challenge
10 Hour Pro ATV Endurance Race Report
::Continued::
After the youth awards ceremony wrapped up it
was time for the main 10 hour ATV enduracne race,
and before the start of the race GBC announced
several new tires to be relased including the
DOT approved Afterburn tire along with the Race
Rex XC ATV tire.
|
|
After the ATV riders meeting, GBC Motorsports
announced two new exciting products with
the release of the GBC Afterburn DOT approved
UTV / ATV tire with a tread design that
will work great on & offroad. Also,
GBC unveiled their all new Race Rex XC ATV
tire, which attracted plenty of attention
from the racers. |
Teams lined up and were ready to go for the Lemans
start, and as the signal was given, it would be
the Pro GBC/Pro Armor team of Jeff Pickens and
Jarrod McClure, with Pickens piloting, that would
take the overall holeshot.
|
|
The non-stop 10 Hour ATV endurance race
started with a Lemans start, which had over
50 racers sprinting over 30 feet to their
parked ATVs, and it was GBC's Jeff Pickens
grabbing the Pro ATV Holeshot, but the #150
C Class Team of Pro Fab ATV Racing was the
1st ATV to leave the line |
From there, the battle was on as the Pro ATV
lead would change several times over the first
five hours of the race before the Dirt Works Motorsports
team of Duane Johnson, Mike Burrows and Kyle Martin
would take the lead and make it stick to take
the Pro ATV and the overall win.
|
|
The #4 Dirt Works Motorsports Team may have
claimed the win, but it didn't come easy
as they swapped positions with both #3 Engineering
& #2 GBC Pro Armor Team nearly 10 times
throughout the race as their was 10 Different
Pro ATV lead changes throughout the 10 hour
race, which kept it an extremely exciting
race to watch even though there were only
three Pro ATV teams chasing after the $6,000
1st Place Prize from GBC |
