Michael Burrows Wins
Ironman at Heartland Challenge
::Continued::
The Ironman class has been a staple of the GBC
Heartland Challenge, and this year 18 racers set
out onto the dusty course to try and complete
this feat. The man to come out on top this year
was Michael Burrows. Burrows set off on a solid
pace and kept his head down for the entire time.

“It got so rough out there that I really was
just so beat up, it was incredible. The rain last
night really helped so I can’t even imagine if
there was no rain to help us out. I have to thank
my family and friends a lot for this win for putting
the bike together, it never gave me any problems
for the entire race. My body is pretty much useless
right now so I’m glad everyone is here to help
me out as well,” said Burrows with a smile.
The A class was one to watch as well as there
were 6 teams in total battling for the top podium
spot.

Team Distortion racing, being lead by Braden
Nichols, kicked off the Heartland Challenge with
a good start and an immediate lead in their class.
Nichols along with his two teammates took the
GBC “Challenge” section throughout the entire
event and saved themselves significant time on
the event.

“We had a really good event on the Derisi / Spider
Graphics Honda and we all had a lot of fun. We
had some overheating issues and thankfully for
our awesome pit crew they helped out big time
with that and got the bikes dialed back in. We
are really proud of this win and can't wait for
the next one," said Nichols!
In second place in the A class, Team Bad Habit
Racing, also had a good day in the Iowa dust.
"It was a decent day and only had a few little
issues here and there and we were able to fix
them. We put some solid laps in and had a lot
of fun and came home with the second place,” said
Sam Huff.
Team Fast City brought home the third place finish
after taking a fourth place finish last season.
“I wanted to thank all of our sponsors; Glann
Innovations, Fast City, SSi Decals, Maxxis Tires,
and our whole pit crew for making us look good.
We had a pretty good day overall and we’re pumped
to be on the podium,” said Hicks.
This year there was not just one class which
gave the opportunity for one racer to punish themselves
for the entire 10 hour race, but two classes giving
this chance. That second class, was called the
Wonder Woman class. It was paired with the Ironman
class for this year and featured a first-ever
winner of the event.
Randee Prindle, who is no stranger to woods or
endurance racing, made the short trip up from
the Show-Me state of Missouri and showed a dominating
performance about a Can-Am Outlander 4x4.

Class Win |
“I kept thinking to myself, is this ever going
to end? But I do think next year it needs to be
a 12 hour race, haha,” said Prindle. “We were
showing minis all last week and it’s been a crazy
week for us so I need to thank everyone who helped
put this machine together for me to ride including
Moose racing, my pit crew and family, without
them, I could have never gotten it done,” said
Prindle.
In second place was Jenna Inman, an Iowa native,
who also loves racing out through the woods. “This
race was miserable, haha. I’m just kidding. I’ve
done this three years in a row now and it was
a lot of fun. It was cool to have an all-women
class and I think it went really well. My bike
worked really well and I’m super happy to be on
the podium for the first ever Wonder Woman class,”
said Inman.
