Pro & Amateur ATV Race Report
::Continued::
Warnia ran strong and consistent taking the win
by about four seconds. “I am so happy to be
racing here in the states. I am also very excited
about winning my first race in this series,”
said an elated Warnia.
While Warnia and Nelson were running out front,
there was a battle brewing between Jason Dunkleburger,
who was making his ITP Quadcross debut aboard
his Yamaha YFZ450R, the number 97 Yamaha of Justin
Noss and Can-Am Epic’s Sage Baker. “I
was fourth off the line and then Sage and Dunk
got by me in the sand section, but then I caught
and passed both of them. We went back and forth
several times until Dunk and I came up on Landon
Hurst and I ended up going off the track, which
put me back several spots,” stated Noss.
Yamaha mounted Romain Couprie, came all the way
from France and made an impressive showing by coming
off the line quickly in third, charging past riders
such as Justin Noss, Jason Dunkleburger, and Sage
Baker. Couprie rode a solid race and was relatively
unchallenged, taking his third place position all
the way to the finish line.
Can-Am Epic Racing’s Hunter Miller was
looking good in the main event. Hunter rode consistently
and worked his way through traffic to the number
four position by the checkered flag.

Epic Racing / Can-Am Team |
Epic
Racing's #49 Sage Baker will also be competing
in the Quacross Series for 2009 on his Can-Am
DS450 |
Unfortunately, Hunter’s teammate Sage Baker
was not so fortunate. Sage suffered a shoulder
injury at practice on Thursday and re-aggravated
his injury when he ended up taking a soil sample
mid-moto when battling for position with Justin
Noss. “I overshot a jump and landed pretty
hard, which made my shoulder start hurting again.
I was having some trouble out there after that
and ended up crashing which put me pretty far
back,” said Baker who finished in 11th place.
Even after a big battle with Noss and Baker, and
dealing with a blown rear shock, Jason Dunkleburger
managed to come out ahead and round out the top
five. Can-Am MotoWorks’ Josh Frederick rode
a solid race claiming a sixth place finish while
Justin Noss ended his day in seventh.
