Can-Am / Motowork's
Jeremie Warnia Sweeps Both Pro ATV Classes
::Continued::
Justin Noss again looked solid coming off the
line in fourth behind Creamer. Noss held an unchallenged
fourth place through the entire moto and his 4-4
finishes had him in 4th place overall.
Nick DeNoble, who was making his Quadcross debut,
claimed consistent 6-5 finishes, which had him rounding
out the top five overall. Dustin Terry’s 5-6
put him in sixth overall and Evan Spooner landed
in seventh overall. Jason Fife would end his evening
in eighth place overall, while Jason Dunkleberger
would find himself in ninth and Can-Am Motoworks’
Josh Frederick would round out the top ten.
The Epic racing team would encounter serious
issues for round seven as their race rig and crew
never showed up to support the racers, leaving
Sage Baker without any help when he encountered
mechanical issues in practice, and leaving Hunter
Miller stuck at home when they neglected to arrange
for his flight out to Arizona for the race, which
is probably a good thing for Miller, who would
have made the trip and not had a machine to race.
In the Open Pro class, there was no contest as
Can-Am Motoworks’ Jeremie Warnia grabbed
the holeshot in both moto one and moto two, and
led from start to finish. Warnia has won five
out of seven rounds of the open Pro class and
now sits with a comfortable points lead of 151
points.
Can-Am Motoworks’ Josh Frederick also came
on strong in the Open Pro class. Frederick came
off the line in third place in moto one and held
his place all the way to the checkered flag. In
moto two, Frederick was holding down fourth, but
made his way up to third before crossing the finish
line. Frederick’s 3-3 was enough to put
him in second overall.
John Shafe was looking good as he had two good motos.
Finishing with a 2-4, Shafe would find himself in
third overall. David Haagsma’s 5-2 put him
in the number four spot and Clayton Endes would
round out the top five with consistent 6-5 finishes.
In the 450 Production Expert class, it was Garrin
Fuller who would take the win with impressive
1-2 finishes while Edgar Moreno’s 4-3 would
have him in the second spot on the podium.
Can-Am Motoworks’ Dillon Zimmerman has
a slight case of nerves going into the first moto
and rightly so. It was Zimmerman’s first
time back at Speedworld since his catastrophic
crash just a few months ago. “I had some
butterflies going into moto one and that kind
of affected me, but I made up for it in moto two,”
said Zimmerman who would take ninth in the first
moto and come back to win in moto two for a solid
third place overall.
Round eight of the 2009 ITP Quadcross series
will head to a new location at Cahuilla Creek
Motocross in Anza, CA on October 25th, where the
points battle will really heat up between Jeremie
Warnia and Dustin Nelson as Nelson tried to recover
his points lead and defend his pro championship.
