Yamaha's Dustin Nelson
Wins Race & Pro ATV Championship
::Continued::
Despite Nelson’s efforts, Warnia was holding
his ground, but in the final lap, everything changed.
“About halfway through the last lap I saw
Warnia pull off the track because his bike stalled.
I was almost in disbelief because I thought he
was going to take it. I didn’t know if he
was going to get going again or not but I knew
that I had to hold on to second for that half
a lap so I never looked back and just kept going,”
said Nelson Who would claim the overall win and
the 2009 ITP Quadcross Pro Production Championship.

#62
Jeremie Warnia was holding onto the 2nd
spot while pressured by #94 Dustin Nelson
& if Warnia could hold onto the 2nd
spot, he would secure the championship by
1 point over Dustin Nelson, but disaster
would strike for Warnia in the final lap
when he stalled his DS450 & it would
not re-fire due to a broke starter wire,
which allowed Nelson to take over the 2nd
Spot & claim the Pro ATV Production
Championship in a heart breaker for Can-Am's

As it turned out the starter wire on Warnia’s
DS450 broke and he had to pop start his Can-Am to
finish out the moto in 12th, dashing his hopes for
the Pro Production Championship. “It was kind
of sad to see him (Warnia) lose that way, but for
me, it still felt great crossing that finish line.
There was really a lot of pressure on me for these
final rounds, especially being down three points,”
stated Nelson, who not only clenched the Pro Production
Championship, but also claimed another championship
as well.
It has become tradition to have an RC car race
at the end of the Quadcross season and this is
the second year in a row that Nelson has taken
the RC car win. “I’m much better at
racing RC cars than quads,” quipped Nelson
in regards to his win, but it doesn’t look
like he will be making the switch to RC cars any
time soon. “I’ll definitely be riding
Blue again next year but I’ll have some
new sponsors for 2010,” Nelson concluded.
