Racing Pro UTV Report
::Continued::
Ronnie Anderson ran a conservative pace in the
early going before charging at the end. He pulled
out everything in his arsenal to challenge O’Brien,
but settled for second at the finish. On the way,
he won the UTV Underground Fast Lap award.

Ronnie Anderson
gave Paul O'Brien a serious challenge
for the lead in the final laps of the
race, but O'Brien was able to hold him
off for the win
|
“These guys didn’t give me a break out there,”
said Anderson. “I just tried to make it happen
and keep up my momentum going. They were really
fast in the first half of the race, but I knew
my car was going to come in during the second.
So I used that to my advantage. I’m super stoked
to put the RZR up front at my hometown track.
All of my friends and family are here.”

HOLZ Racing's
Ronnie Anderson held the early lead and
held on to claim a season best 2nd place
finish at Glen Helen on Saturday in his
Polaris RZR
|
Jason Weller was battling for the lead at the
start of the race, but faded back to third at
the end. His fourth podium of the season puts
him in a numerical tie for second in points. Weller
has had a rocky relationship with Glen Helen,
though recent success has changed his mind about
the Southern California track.

Jason Weller
had as sesaon best weekend taking home
two podium finishes with a 3rd place finish
on Saturday, which boosted him to 2nd
place in the points championship with
only 2 points seperating Jason Weller,
Paul O'Brien, and Brandon Arthur heading
into the season finale at Wildhorse Pass
Motorsports Park next month in Arizona
|
“Glen Helen has always tortured me going all
the way back to my quad days,” said Weller. “The
last regional I won here and now I have two podiums
here, so I guess it’s become my favorite track.”
Brock Heger started out the doubleheader weekend
with a victory on Friday. He was challenging in
the top five during the first half of the race,
but suspension problems forced him to back down
in the end. His fourth-place finish, though, handed
him the championship in just his first year racing
UTVs. Heger also competes in a truck in the series’
Pro Lite division.

Icon's Brock
Heger secured the win on Friday, but he
finished 4th on Saturday, which allowed
him to clinch the LOORS Pro Production
1000 Class UTV Championship
|
“Yesterday we pulled off a win, and tonight we
pulled off a fourth to clinch the Pro UTV 1000
championship for Yamaha,” said Heger. “There is
a lot of stress off of my back. I was already
here, so it made sense for me to do it. It’s been
a really good year. It gives me a of track time,
so when I get into my Pro Lite it feels like I
was just out there.”
|
Brock Heger
not only secured the Pro UTV Championship,
but he also took the Pro Lites Win on
Saturday Night, which has him 2nd in that
points championship heading to the season
finale
|
Ronnie Anderson’s brother RJ thought he was retiring
from SXS racing after winning the UTV World Championship
in April. Proving that racing a RZR is still close
to his heart, he competed last weekend at Crandon
in TORC and then did another doubleheader here,
along with running both the Pro 2 and Pro 4 races.

“I’m worn out,” said RJ Anderson, who finished
seventh in the Saturday race as well as scoring
a pair of podiums in Pro 4. “I’ve done six main
events now and there are ups and downs. My team
gave me good cars, but I’m happy it’s over. Glen
Helen is always a roller coaster ride. I had a
blast today racing the RZR. It really helped me
clear my mind from some of the other chaos I have
going on right now. I hope to do it more.”
The Lucas Oil Off Road Series will hold its season
finale October 21-22. The doubleheader weekend
is being held at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park
in Chandler, AZ.
