Celebration ATV Motocross Race Report
::Continued::
As the gate would drop on the first moto, the
rain began to creep up through the valley. As
they worked through the moto line up and closer
to the Quad Pro-Am class, fans lined the sidelines
with umbrellas in hand. When the gate dropped,
it would be Suzuki pilot Doug Gust grabbing the
holeshot. Local rider and KTM mounted Andy Travis
would apply immediate pressure out of the gate
and use his knowledge of the track to make a pass
and take over the lead.

Doug Gust grabbed the Holeshot in Moto One |
His lead would be short lived when Gust would
dig in and make his pass. As they battled out
front, many eyes were on the closing in Dustin
Wimmer. Making quick work of Travis, Wimmer began
his hunt for that number one spot that he has
become accustom to. The two Suzuki riders quickly
opened a gap between the pack as they battled
out front. Josh Upperman would slide into third
place with Pat Brown knocking on his door and
Derek Swarfager rounding out the top five. With
little amount of passing in the top ten, eyes
began watching a mud covered #88 Kawasaki piloted
by Joel Hetrick work his way through the pack
from a 12th position start.

Doug Gust was able to hold off his teammate,
Dustin Wimmer to claim the Moto One Win |
Wimmer would close the door on Gust and looked like
he had a run for a pass, but quickly backed off
as if the muddy conditions had affected his charge.
He fell into a comfortable second place position
as Gust would take the checkered flag. Upperman
held onto third while Pat Brown crossed the finish
line in fourth. In an amazing feat, Joel Hetrick
put his 2009 seasons experience in the Pro-Am class
to use and claimed his position to round out the
top five.
After a short intermission for some track maintenance,
racing resumed while the skies began to break
up and the sun soon began to work its way through
the clouds. At the strike of 2:30, the tumbler
with one lucky winner began to spin. Debi first
read the winners town name and discovered that
it would make the short 15 minute drive to Warren,
PA. Don Edwards would be the name floating across
the crowd of ticket holders. With a big smile
and disbelief, Don came to accept his new Motoworks
Can-AM DS450.
