Celebration ATV Motocross Race Report
::Continued::
Racers battled slippery track for most of the
day, but it did not limit their ability to put
on a show for the fans. As the Pro-Am group lined
up on the gate for Moto 2 the intensity grew.
When the gate dropped it looked as if Doug Gust
would claim another holeshot, however, it was
Josh Upperman sneaking on the inside of the first
corner to take command of the early lead. Gust’s
second place position was temporary as Dustin
Wimmer worked his way around. Wimmer began his
hunt for Upperman and quickly became within reach.

Moto 2 Holeshot |
As laps clicked away, Dustin held a steady distance
studying Upperman’s lines. Doug Gust fell
into another hard fought battle with Greg Gee.
As the pair swapped positions a similar fight
for position developed just a few quad lengths
back. Pat Brown held position as his Yamaha teammate,
Thomas Brown, continued to knock on the door.
Joel Hetrick sat in 7th place and was closing
in on the Browns, reassuring fans his first moto
performance was purely skill based.
As the white flag flew, it appeared as if Upperman
was going to hold off Wimmer and take the win.
With just a few turns remaining, Wimmer slipped
past Upperman to take command of the lead. Upperman
would be unable to retake the lead, crowning Wimmer
a champion once again. When the results were added
up, Gusts 1-3 would be good enough to put him
in second place overall while Uppermans 3-2 gave
him the final spot on the podium.

#20
Josh Upperman appeared to be on his way
to the 2nd Moto Win & Overall, but a
last minute pass by Wimmer put him out front
to claim the win & the overall with
Upperman finishing in 3rd Overall by Doug
Gust in 2nd Overall |
Joel Hetrick’s solid performance (5-6)
earned him the fourth place position overall while
Pat Brown would round out the top five. Greg Gee,
Thomas Brown, Rocco Arno, Derek Swartfager and
Bobby Ross would finish out the top ten in that
order.
Another successful season and Matt Bartosek Memorial
race is in the books. The memorial fund would
like to thank everyone that helped out throughout
the season and seasons past, everyone that helped
feeding the hungry crowd Saturday evening, and
last but not least, the EMT crew that provided
their services all day on Sunday at their own
expense. If you missed grabbing an event t-shirt,
you can pick one up and keep track of next year’s
event on www.88ridetolive.com
