Belleville, IL (4/9/2014) - The 2014 Midwest Extreme Dirt Track series kicked off it’s eight-round season this past weekend in Belleville, Illinois at the Belleville Enduro Team track which sits just outside of St. Louis, MO. The weekend was greeted with a beautiful mid-50’s sunny day and clear skies which helped to dry out the track which had received multiple inches of race in the week prior leading up to the race.

The Pro main event featured seven racers, which filled out the front starting line perfectly. There were originally eleven racers but many riders went down in the Pro-Am main battle and left only a few to do battle for the Pro main. This created a tight race around the wide-open BET track, which has no hairpins but instead, large sweeping turns with plenty of passing areas. There was also a prize on the line as Andy Maul from Maul-Tech ATV put up some awesome holeshot awards for the opening round as an extra incentive to get to the first corner with the lead!

Wolff Motorsports / FOX / DASA’s Nathan Wolff came off the line charging immediately into the lead and setting the pace for the remainder of the contest. Wolff’s first mission however was to get around Garrett Keister who snagged the early holeshot and won the Maul-Tech ATV holeshot award! Wolff kept his tires planted in the first turn to get around Keister and as he cruised around the increasingly rough track. He then fought off the rest of the pack as they pursued him to no avail. Luckily for Wolff, he was dialed in for the track and poured on the coal to the rest of the racers! He had no fierce battles during the Pro main and went on to take the checkered flag and notch his first win of the season in his belt.

“The track got pretty rough out there and that’s what we train for during the off season. My Maul Tech / DASA / Walsh TRX450R hooked up great out there and pulled strong for the entire race and I’m happy to come out here and get a win in front of my home town crowd,” said Wolff.

H&H Extreme ATV / FLY Racing / Hoosier’s Josh Hibdon came off the line in the Pro main with a third place ride, just behind the #4 of Garrett Keister who was trailing Wolff up front. Hibdon set his sights on the rear number plate of Keister and never let him slip away and was able to make a pass on the Pro rookie early on in the race. Hibdon then tried to reel in Wolff, but was unable to do so with the remaining laps left and had to settle for a second place finish.

Pro rookie Garrett Keister came off the Pro starting line with a very good spot riding in second place for the early part of the main, but soon came under pressure from Josh Hibdon.

Garrett Keister
MWEDT Pro Rookie Garrett Keister had a strong showing at round 1 by finishing third. Keister ran second for most of the Pro main until falling back to third

Keister fell back by only one spot and continued to pressure Hibdon and be there in case any of the front-runners were to make a mistake. Keister went on to finish the Pro main in third place, a great start to his season as well.
