Performance/Can-Am's Nicole Gates took
the win overall in the Women's class despite
blowing out her knee |
2011 NEATV-MX Women's Champion Nicole Gates returned
to the series this weekend on her BCS Performance/Can-Am
DS450. Gates tore her ACL a month ago and was
skeptical if she was going to be able to race
and defend her title this year. Fortunately, Nicole
was able to get a custom CTI knee brace that allows
her to ride. In her first moto, Gates was out
in front until she hit a jump and her knee blew
out, putting her back a place and finishing in
second. She had a better second moto, coming second
off the line and making the pass for the lead
in the first lap. Gates had a great day finishing
first overall for the day in the Women's class.
Southside's Kellie Moran went 3-2 giving her second
overall, and Larissa Griffiths would take third
for the day.
Crofton, Maryland's Stephen Griffin had a great
weekend taking home his first overall win in
the College Boy class. "I didn't have my
race bike with me, but the stock Can-Am DS 450
ran really well," commented Griffin. Jake
Bradway came in second, while Chris DiPietro
rounded out the top three.

Delton
Bohlman won the 4x4 Open Class on his
Can-Am Renegade ATV |
Ben
Fumega took the win in the 4x4 Lites Class
on his Can-Am Outlander Utility ATV |
The 4x4 class didn't have the desired turnout
this weekend, but there were still around 6
that showed. Delton Bohlman had two great starts
on his Can Am Renegade 800. Bohlman and Tim
Suchocki battled in the first moto for the win,
but Suchocki broke his driveshaft in the last
few laps of the moto. In the second moto, Bohlman
was able to finish the 8 lap moto in front.
Bohlman would take the win for the 4x4 Open
class and commented, "it was a lot of fun,
I look forward to the race at MX207 where we
should have a better turn out and a more dedicated
utility course." Ben Fumega also did well
in the 4x4 Class, taking the overall win in
the 4x4 Lites class. Many of the riders are
anxious for the next 4x4 race which will be
at MX207 in Lyman, Maine on May 19, 2012.
The second round of the 2012 NEATV-MX Series
will be held at MX338 in Southwick, Massachusetts
on April 29, 2012.
