The OMA Nationals
Wolverine XC race course provided
a good mix of woods and
open sections. Third place finisher
Johnny Gallagher blasted through the
woods on his GT Thunder Fly Racing
Yamaha.

Aurora, Ohio racer Johnny Gallagher ran with
the leaders early but he said “a little
over an hour in, right after we stopped for
fuel, I just started making mistakes. I started
to get tired.” Gallagher admitted to a
shortfall in his conditioning program, but also
said “these guys are a little bit younger
and in a lot better shape.” Gallagher
completed his eleventh lap after one hour, fifty
minutes, and forty nine seconds. “It was
a good day though,” he said with a smile,
“happy to bring home third.”
Fourth place went to a friendly newcomer
to the OMA Nationals series who always has
a smile on his face. David Crane made the
long trip from his DC Cycle shop located near
the Mississippi Alabama border to attend this
race in northern Michigan. He had the Maxxis
Tire Balls KTM close to the leaders on lap
two, but could not maintain their blistering
pace and would have to settle for fourth place
at this event. It was not a win, but Crane
still said “It was good, a lot of fun.”

The weather in northern Michigan cooperated
for this installment of the OMA Nationals
on race day for a pleasant change from previous
rounds. Track conditions were perfect, thanks
to overnight rains. It was a great day of
exciting racing enjoyed by many spectators
