Mesick, MI - Brandon Sommers capped
off an exciting race at the Twisted Trails off road
park near Mesick, Michigan with another first place
finish aboard his GYTR Yamaha YFZ450. The victory
came after eleven laps of a fast but challenging
course. The usual combination of woods and twisting
grass track sections also included two journeys
each lap through a four by four truck special test
section complete with hill climbs and holes that
provided considerable spectator viewing time. The
Maxxis Hyper Wheels KTM of Taylor Kiser led part
of the race but ended up three seconds short of
victory behind Sommers. Their traveling partner
Johnny Gallagher rounded out the podium aboard his
Fly Racing Yamaha. Mississippi racer David Crane
finished fourth place aboard the DC Cycles Rekluse
KTM while Bryan Hulsey rounded out the top five
aboard his Missouri based Duncan Racing IMS Honda.
Lap times for the top two racers on this course
of approximately five miles hovered around the
nine and one half minute mark while the rest of
the pro class was about thirty seconds per lap
in arrears. Sommers and Kiser ended their day
with nearly three minutes of gap on the rest of
the field. When recapping his race Sommers said
“I just rode as hard as I could and I could
never shake him (Kiser). We had a good race going
for sure.” According to the 2007 Missouri
Harescrambles Champion Bryan Hulsey, who finished
fifth, “The race was just fast and rough.
The leaders just got away from me and it’s
all I could do to finish fifth.”

Kiser said he had a “pretty good day.”
According to the Powermadd JB KTM rider “I
got out of the hole third and Me and Johnny and
Brandon hooked up and were running pretty good.
Johnny stalled it in a corner and I got by him.
Then I lucked out in the pits and got the lead
for a couple more laps. Brandon pulled a really
good line on me and he led it to the end. It was
a solid day, we both had really good runs, and
I was really happy with the bike.”
