Andy Lagzdins achieves his 2nd Consecutive Win!

Decatur, AK - After a successful debut at the first round of the OMA Nationals in Kentucky a few weeks ago, I decided to make the trek out to Decatur, Arkansas for round two to see if I could get another good result. Thanks to some extra incentives put up by my sponsors Moose, ITP, and Duncan Racing, I am now able to contest both the OMA Nationals and the GNCC Series. The two series’ are almost identical in format, with both events running two hours in length around 8-10 mile loops consisting of predominantly natural cross-country terrain. I’m hoping the extra races will keep me sharper throughout the season, and hopefully help increase my speed to keep up with all the new talent coming into the ATV Pro classes this year.

The Wildcat XC has been a round of the OMA’s for many years, and property is perfect for a cross country race with a large parking area and a vast trail system. The Arkansas terrain includes short, steep hillclimbs riddled with roots, and soil that has a gravel-type rock ingredient that makes getting roosted a painful experience. The weather had been dry in Arkansas, and the course was completely mud and water free. Temperatures in the mid-80s made this the hottest race so far in 2007. A new addition to the OMA program was a practice session on the morning of the race, allowing riders to ride on the race track just 2 hours before the main event. I used the practice time to do some starts and take a slow lap of the track to look for passing opportunities and alternate lines. It is nice to be able to make suspension adjustments after checking out the terrain, and riding the course makes it a little safer for everyone to know where the tricky kickers and washouts are before hitting them at race speed.
