Andy Lagzdins achieves his 2nd Consecutive Win! - Page 2

Andy Lagzdins achieved his second consecutive overall win.
Thirteen Pro riders lined up for the start, and once again Derek Shrock grabbed the holeshot and the $250 bonus on his YFZ450. The dust cloud was massive as we went through the first sections of the track, and I was swallowing mouthfuls of dust trying to work my way up from a bad start. Rob Zimmerman and I hooked up and started picking off riders, passing each other numerous times while taking crazy lines to make passes in the tight woods sections. I came up on Derek at the end of the third lap, but before I could make the pass, my front wheel locked up as I was coming into the scanning tent! I pulled away from the checkpoint and drove right into my pit area and my mechanic Jim knocked the rock out of my caliper. I got past Derek and opened up a small lead, but Zimmerman was staying with me. For a couple of laps we were circulating at the same pace, and I would see him across the field sections in the same exact spot.

Derek Shrock bulleted his Yamaha ATV through turn one grabbing the holeshot.
Rob Zimmermann finished 2nd Overall behind Andy Lagzdins.

As the race wore on, the track developed berms in a lot of the woods sections to where I could go into the turns deeper and deeper each lap and the berm would scrub off a lot of speed. It was fun trying to go through a series of turns without touching the brakes, just clutching it and hanging off the quad like a wet noodle. In the last few laps I put in consistent times to win by over two minutes, with Rob fading slightly to finish second over early leader Derek Shrock. Spencer Dickersen and Matt Lindle rounded out the top five.

It is refreshing to travel to some new tracks and race on some new terrain, but the series now goes to the familiar area of southern Ohio for an AWRCS co-sanctioned race. There should be a great turnout with more than likely a handful of current GNCC Pro riders.

If your in the area, be sure to check it out!
