Andy Lagzdins Claims Third Win of the Year, Tightens Points Chase

Andy Lagzdins regains control of the lead and begins to pull away from Zimmerman
As I was sprawled out over the front hood of my quad, Rob motored past me. I remounted and gave chase, and on the next lap I noticed he had a low rear tire. In a tight woods section, I took a tighter line and regained the lead. I tried to charge as much as possible, and decided to pit early because I knew Rob would be pulling in to change a tire. Rob’s tire change took a little time, and I was able to open up a comfortable lead.

The notorious Millville whoop sections were a rush to ride through; they are about an eighth of a mile long and separated by a 180 degree berm turn. There are two fun uphill step-ups, and a handful of loamy turns and straight-aways filled with bone-jarring braking bumps.

By the fifth lap, the hundreds of turns in the woods made me think my steering dampener was glowing molten orange with boiling fluid spraying out of it like Old Faithful. Everything held together, and I crossed the line first for my third win this season. Rob finished second, with Rob Weis getting past Matt Lindle to claim the final podium position. Dillon Abernathy rounded out the top five.

The next round of the OMA Series takes place in Boyers, Pennsylvania on September 8th. This is a great event to attend, as it is also an AWRCS points paying event. The venue has been the host of numerous GNCC’s in the past, and should turnout to be a great race with many of the top quad racers in the world in attendance. See you there!
