Andy Lagzdins' Pro ATV Race Report - Continued

Andy Lagzdins cruising through the Woods
After two laps of matching Rob’s every move, I made the pass for the lead in a multi-lined tight woods section. Rob was not letting me get away, and pressured me for another few laps until he punctured a rear tire and had to pit. I had planned on pitting on the very same lap, and we came out of the pits still fairly close to one another. With Rob trying everything in the book to catch back up, his race ended prematurely with a broken chain. When I came through the pits and got the sign that Rob was out, I went into cruise mode and tried to make sure the quad made it safely to the finish line. Some spectators were likely wondering why I came by yelling things like: “You know I love you more than anything!” and “I’ll do a top end on you when we get home!”

With Zimmerman out, a newcomer to the OMA Pro class, Casey Pries, moved into second ahead of Matt Lindle after Matt suffered a rear flat. Pries had been running well in the A class and chose to make the move to Pro Class at Waukon, and finished behind me in second overall. Lindle held onto third to get his first podium in the 2007 series. Rob Zimmerman was credited with a 5th place finish, which widened my series lead to 16 points with two rounds left to run. The next event on the OMA schedule is The Race in Morrison, Illinois, a racing tradition that has been going on since 1976. This venue also hosts the Moose Run, and is guaranteed to be one of the most challenging courses of the year. See you there!
