Terracross Racing Round 3 Polaris RZR Race Report
::Continued::

One of the fiercest battles on the track was waged between Mickey Thomas and Cody Rahders. Both had trouble keeping their machines on track during the race. In the final laps, Rahders rolled over, handing Thomas the final spot on the podium. Rahders finished sixth after he was uprighted.

ATVriders.com's Mickey Thomas was on the gas as he battled his way through the pack, but he was under constant pressure

“That was a good time,” said Thomas. “Cody and I went back and forth a couple of times. He bicycled it on the final lap and I took the spot. It wasn’t easy for me, either. It’s hard jumping this stock RZR after driving a heavily modified RZR in WORCS. I was bicycling, and I was all over the place, but it was fun.”

Mystik Lubricant's Mickey Thomas nearly flipped over in the deep ruts while battling with FOX's Cody Rahders, but he was able to save it, and the following lap Rahders flipped over, which gave Thomas some breathing room on his way to another Terracross Pro RZR Podium finish

Bad Endorsement’s Mike Johnson said he’s hitting his groove now in TerraCross competition. His first top five definitely attested to that. “I’ve been training hard and I’m just trying to find a happy medium,” said Johnson. “I started 12th and finished fourth. I really ran by myself in this race. Early on I had a plan. I executed it, and I moved up a lot of positions. The track was different, but I had a lot of fun.”

The affable Red Bull’s Levi Lavallee seemed happy just to be racing at Hay Days. “I came into this without any expectations,” said Lavallee with a chuckle. “The biggest thing for me was to try to keep it on all four and keep the buggy together. We had a good run and the track was awesome. I had a couple of wins in the LCQ and a heat, which is new to me in TerraCross. I just love getting out there and ripping those RZRs. It’s amazing what they can go through and boy was it fun out there. The big accomplishments for me is are that I didn’t roll over, and I didn’t break anything.”

The event also featured a freestyle event for snowmobiles, ATVs and dirt bikes. ATV showman, Derek Guetter, said the event just keeps getting bigger every year. “The size of this event for snowmobile, dirt bike and ATV is massive,” said Guetter. “Plus it’s only three hours from my house. It’s just a fun event to do. We had Jack Rowe on snowmobile and a lot of young kids from the area that came out.”

Series promoter Joe Duncan said TerraCross is getting bigger and better every event. “We have a great season so far,” said Duncan. “We started out with a great doubleheader in San Diego and here we are at Hay Days. This is one of the best tracks we’ve ever had. We had big crowds and nice weather. I think people can see the racing and the high profile athletes competing. The athletes are great; they play to the crowds. It made for a great interesting event and great entertainment.”

Round three of the Terracross Championship proved to be one of the best main events to date without any red flags to break up the flow of the racing, so the anticipation was building on who would come out on top in round four, so check back for a complete report on the final round of the Pro RZR racing along with Women’s Polaris RZR Race Report.
