Race Report
::Continued::
Van Eperen finished second in points, but had
to give driving duties to Johnny Greaves due severe
injuries suffered in a motocross accident two
weeks ago. Van Eperen won six races this year,
the most of any Pro Modified competitor. Though
it was hard for him to see the title slip away
from the sidelines, Van Eperen was still upbeat
with the runner-up effort. Especially telling
was the competitiveness of the Yamaha, a ride
many thought at the beginning of the season would
be outclassed due to its naturally aspirated engine.

“Before the season started, everyone was saying
there was no way you’d be able to run a naturally
aspirated car against turbos,” said Van Eperen.
“We thought we could and we’re proud to be standing
here. I really wish I could have been out there,
but I’m not saying anything would have changed
because I had the best in the business behind
the wheel. The Can-Am guys deserve everything
they got. They did awesome.”

JB Racing's
Tim Farr held the early lead with Kyle
Chaney quickly moving into the second
spot
|
Farr finished third in points and helped Can-Am
earn two out of three spots on the championship
podium. Farr won two races this season and recorded
an additional five podiums.

“Congratulations to Kyle and Can-Am for winning
the championship,” said Farr. “The Maverick X3
is awesome. We’ve always run clean with each other
and help each other. Overall, it was a good weekend.
The front three guys were a little bit quicker
than I was this weekend. I could get up to them,
but I couldn’t do anything with them. It’s definitely
a fast-paced series.”
Zac Zakowski and Thomas Reihner, both in their
first Pro TORC seasons, completed the top five
in points. Zakowski was running his first year
in the stick shift Yamaha and if a few mechanical
issues hadn’t occurred, he would have been well
in the thick of the championship hunt.

“We were up there fighting with Tim for awhile,
but we had some mechanical issues and a couple
of bad races,” said Zakowski. “We’re happy with
fourth. I’m new to a stick shift and this was
a learning curve for me. We learned a lot and
got the car faster and faster.”
Reihner was pleased with his first year as a
pro driving his Bak4 Can-Am X3. “I bumped up in
points and I couldn’t be happier in my first year
in the Pro class,” said Reihner. “My Can-Am was
absolutely on point and we have big things coming
next year. The track was phenomenal. There is
no better place to race than here.”
