Angela
Butler made her Polaris Racing Debut on
the Outlaw 450MXR & Won the Women's
Class and finished 7th in the ProAm Class |
Angela Butler, who made her debut on her new
Polaris, took 1st place in the Women’s A
class on Saturday followed by Julie Russell in
2nd and Amy Horst in 3rd. Angela’s fantastic
performance on Saturday qualified her for the
Pro-Am main event on Sunday. Despite the miserable
conditions and being on a new machine, Angela
pulled off a very impressive 7th place finish.
Perhaps almost as impressive as the riding skills
of those who managed to outlast the elements at
this weekend’s events, was the site of the
Kawasaki and Can-Am/Motoworks race rigs in the
Pro pits. “I think it’s really great
that the factories are starting to take an interest
in the WORCS series. It really brings a lot of
recognition to the series when you get guys like
Creamer and Little out here racing,” said
Brandon Brown.

Josh
Frederick was all smiles when he finished
the last lap to claim the win for his CanAm
/ Motoworks Team, which was the fastest
lap of the race |
Tim
Shelman & Mike Cafro both ran incredible
in the mud, but they payed the price for
racing without goggles as both could barely
see after the race |
Can-Am/Motoworks team manager Johnny Leech seemed
to be quite enthusiastic about being a part of
WORCS as well. “I’m very excited about
this season. I can’t wait to get out there
and start doing some more testing. We have a really
great team and Can-Am has made sure that we have
everything we need to make this a successful season,”
he concluded.

Round two of the 2008 WORCS series will be heading
back to Mesquite, NV for the first time in two
years, and is scheduled for February 22-24. Mesquite
MotoX Park is primarily composed of sand and offers
lots of elevation changes. Mesquite has also been
know to have its share of inclement weather, especially
early in the season, but hopefully Mother Nature
will be more cooperative than she was for the
season opener.
