395 Pro & Amateur ATV Race Report
Adelanto, CA - Round 2 of the 2009 WORCS
series saw another record turnout with over 600
entries and 31 Pro’s on the starting line
for the main event. Even with the high number of
Pro entries, Can-Am MotoWork’s Josh Frederick
still came out victorious with his second win of
the season.
The Racetown 395 in Adelanto, CA was the hosting
facility for the event and the record turn out
of WORCS racers was just a few entries shy of
a track record as well, and with that many entries,
the dry sandy course was bound to get a bit rough.
“The laps were shorter than usual, but being
out there for two hours, the track got brutally
rough,” stated Josh Frederick.

As Frederick and the rest of the Pro class raced
for the first turn, the large number of racers definitely
played a part in who would be out front. Going into
the first turn, Frederick was 6th in line, but quickly
began making up time. By the end of the first lap,
Frederick had climbed to the number three spot after
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson made a mistake in the
WORCS Cross section and began chasing down Polaris’s
Doug Eichner and Can-Am MotoWorks teammate, Jeremie
“Frenchy” Warnia. Josh got around Eichner
in the second lap, but Warnia proved to be a bit
of a challenge. “Jeremie was keeping a pretty
fast pace, and I followed him for about 45 minutes,
but he started to get a tired and then I went for
the pass,” said Frederick who, once in the
lead, checked out on the rest of the pack to take
the Pro win.
Although Dustin Nelson had a bobble in the first
lap, he was coming on strong and making up time.
“I had a pretty decent start, but lost a
few places when I got hung up on a log,”
said Nelson. Dustin has been training hard during
the off season and his efforts showed as he put
the hammer down and worked his way from 7th to
the number four spot, where he and Doug Eichner
battled for three laps before Dustin was able
to make the pass stick when Eichner went into
the pits for fuel. Once around Eichner, Nelson
began his chase for the front and worked himself
into second place before the first hour had passed.
Nelson maintained his 2nd place status all the
way to the checkered flag.
Doug Eichner, who flew off the line to take the
holeshot, was looking strong as usual. “The
Polaris Yoshimura motor puller really strong off
the line,” Eichner stated. Doug led for
the first lap, but was passed by Warnia in lap
two. “After Frenchy got around me, Dustin
and I were battling for a little while and then
I had to pit and he was able to gain some ground.
I stated to close the gap again, but I didn’t
have enough time to catch him,” said Doug.
