WORCS Racing - Round 3 - Crazy Horse GP - Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued::

MCR/Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma was in mid pack off the start and holding down eighth at the end of lap one. Haagsma was battling with Josh Row going into the second lap and got around Row before the end of the lap to move into sixth place. Haagsma was able to remount a charge and take back fifth place in lap ten. From there Haagsma was secure in his position and took it all the way to the finish line to round out the top five.

Dirkie Baard - Honda TRX 450R ATV WORCS Racing
Matlock Racing's #143 Dirkie Baard makes the pass on #7 Justin Waters as Baard goes on to claim a career best 6th place finish
Dirkie Baard was toward the back of the pack off the start, but the South African racer charged hard and made his way into the number six spot before reaching the checkered flag, which is his best finish so far this season.

MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Mike Cafro was also toward the back off the start, but Cafro who is known for his consistency was able to move forward and move from eleventh place all the way up to seventh before crossing the finish line.

Yamaha mounted Justin Waters rode a solid and consistent race as he started out in the top ten and would finish that way. Waters moved back and forth several times between ninth and tenth before making a charge in the final laps and taking a respectable eighth place finish.

Jarrod McClure - Honda TRX 450R ATV National Guard WORCS Racing
National Guard's Jarrod McClure great start ended with an early crash & derailed chain, but McClure charged back to claim a 9th place finish
National Guard/Yokely Racing’s Jarrod McClure grabbed the holeshot and was leading going into the Motocross section, but about a mile in, Jeremie Warnia got around him. McClure was in a solid second at the end of the first lap, but things went downhill quickly in the second lap, when McClure and Dustin Nelson connected, which sent McClure tumbling. McClure quickly remounted, but his charge was once again stopped when his chain derailed, which cost him several minutes. By the end of lap two, McClure had dropped all the way back to 14th place.

Despite his early hard luck, McClure stayed focused and charged his way back into the top ten, and by the checkered flag, McClure moved up into the ninth spot.

Dillon Zimmerman - CanAm DS450 ATV WORCS Racing
Motoworks' #49 Dillon Zimmerman held the 4th spot early in the race, but he wasn't able to maintain his charge due to a recent shoulder injury, which also sidelined Zimmerman after a few laps at Round 2 just under a month ago
Can-Am/Motoworks’ Dillon Zimmerman was back from a shoulder injury and was in the top five in lap one. Unfortunately Zimmerman was still not feeling 100% and fell back. Zimmerman eventually fell to twelfth, but he pushed hard in the final laps and was able to take tenth place before crossing the finish line.

John Shafe put in a consistent effort and held on for eleventh place. Robbie Mitchell was looking good as he was holding down sixth place after a heated battle with Justin Waters going into lap eleven, but a mechanical issue got the best of him and he was forced to call it a day and take a twelfth place finish.

Josh Row was also in mid pack off the start and moved into seventh at lap one. Row battled with David Haagsma and made his way into all the way up to fourth place by lap nine, but then disaster struck. In lap ten, just before the lagoon jump, Row lost his chain. Row refused a tow and walked back to the pits to get another chain. Row was able to put on another chain and continue racing to salvage points, but would end his day in eleventh place

Tim Shelman - Honda TRX 450R ATV WORCS Racing
Tim Shelman checks out his finger after the race
Tim Shelman should have spoken with motocross pro, Chase Snapp and got some words of wisdom, before he headed off for round three. Shortly into lap one, Shelman reached down to free some debris from his chain and got his finger caught in the chain, which resulted in him losing the tip of his finger. Undeterred, Shelman taped up his finger and continued to race, finishing in 14th place before heading to the hospital to have his finger tip reattached later that evening.

Round 4 of the WORCS ATV Racines Series is set for April 22-24 at Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza, California.
