Maxxis'
David Haagsma scored a pro career best 4th
place finish |
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma was riding
in a solid fifth place for the first few laps and
was able to move up to fourth when he passed Nelson.
Haagsma kept a steady pace and took the number four
spot all the way to the finish line, taking his
best pro finish to date.
National Guard/Yokely Racing’s Jarrod McClure
was running in sixth place with consistent lap
times for three quarters of the race and moved
into fifth place. McClure was closing in on Haagsma,
but got hung up. “I stalled it in the rock
section and he was able to pull away from me again,”
said McClure, who was in fifth in the final three
laps and would stay there to end his day rounding
out the top five, a season best for the east coast
racer.

Robbie Mitchell finished in the sixth spot
at Cahuilla Creek MX |
Robbie Mitchell started off in ninth off the
line and worked his way into seventh in the second
lap. Mitchell stayed consistent and hung on to
put his Kawasaki in the number six spot at the
end of the day.
Yamaha’s Josh Row started out looking strong
in sixth, but fell back to eighth place in lap two.
Row would put in a solid effort to finish in seventh.
Can-Am/Motoworks’ Dillon Zimmerman was
just outside of the top ten on the start and was
looking better than last round, but he is still
not up to speed after a shoulder injury put a
damper on his 2011 season. Zimmerman struggled
through the past two races, but he is on the road
to recovery as he claimed an eight place finish
this round. Zimmerman has plans on working on
his cardio over the next few weeks, which hopes
of claiming a top five finish in Idaho.

Yamaha's
#94 Dustin Nelson grabbed the ATVriders.com
Holeshot Award |
|
Yamaha's
#94 Dustin Nelson |
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson, who got second to
last on the gate pick, amazingly grabbed the holeshot,
but his lead would be short lived, with Warnia making
the pass for the lead before the pro rock section
on lap one. Nelson then found himself battling it
out with Beau Baron and Josh Frederick. Unfortunately
for Nelson, he was experiencing an intermitting
electrical issue with his quad, which caused him
to stall, and allowed by Baron and Frederick to
pass. Nelson would continue to experience issues
for the rest of the race as he slowly dropped back
to a tenth place finish.
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s team manager, Mike Cafro,
hung on to finish his day in eleventh, While Justin
Waters claimed twelfth. Johnny Shafe would finish
in thirteenth, while Kyle Grosse hung on for fourteenth
and Tim Shelman would only be able to complete
four laps before he broke a chain and suffered
a DNF.
Round number five of the 2011 WORCS series will
be heading to Clay Peaks MX in Payette, ID for
the first time in several years, where the battle
will intensify for the points lead as defending
champ Josh Frederick is closing in on his teammate,
Jeremie Warnia, in order to keep his title.
