::Continued::

After a rough start, Hancock was running in roughly seventh place as they headed into the desert. Despite the several battles taking place around him, Hancock put the hammer down and moved into third place. With his Pro Motorsports / Walker Evans machine handling exceptionally well, he was able to navigate his way into second place. After finishing third at the season opener a couple weeks prior to this event, finishing in second place is a step in the right direction for Hancock as he gets closer to the top of the box.

Matt Hancock took an impressive second place finish crossing the finish just over thirty seconds behind David Haagsma

Praising his amazing vehicle, he advised that his Maxxis / Tire Block combination kept him firmly planted to the dirt and allowed him to get through some of the rockier sections without worry. "The Maxxis tires worked great and hooked up everywhere. Between my Maxxis tires and the Tire Blocks, I could hit anything out there and not get any flats, said Hancock"

Rounding out the podium in the SxS 1000 Class was the #108 of Mike Gardner. Completing five productive laps, Gardner successfully drove his Polaris across the finish line with an impressive time of 51:38.

Danny Rosenzweig earned the top spot in the SxS 850 Class driving his John Deere Gator RSX 850i at Buffalo Bill’s WORCS. This would be Rosenzweig’s second consecutive win this season. Rounding out the SxS 850 Class podium was Adam Levings in second and Jim Berry finishing third.

In the UTV Sport Class, two American heroes raced their way to the checkered flag to take the win. Marines Calvin Smith and Cody James Elliott, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, enjoyed their first ever off road race and were thrilled to take top honors for the day in their respected class. Driving in a Kawasaki Teryx, Cody and Calvin, both leg amputees, were racing for the Warrior Strong team. After hearing about the program from their prosthetic physicians, they were given this amazing opportunity to participate in this event.

The two men were incredibly enthusiastic about their win as well as the joy of being able to participate in the race. "It was huge to have the opportunity to come out here and do this with all the rest of these guys out here. Everybody has been so nice to us and it’s been great," Smith said about the occasion. Elliott was equally excited about the chance to race. "It was great. We were able to come out here and put our heads together. We just wanted to drive a clean race and just finishing was our goal," Elliott stated about their strategy.
