WORCS Racing ATV Race Report
Beau Baron Takes Win & WORC Racing Pro Points Lead

Ridgecrest, CA (5/12/2014) - Round five of the 2014 WORCS racing season proved to be a great weekend for H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron. After taking the WORCS Racing Pro SxS win on Saturday, Baron stepped up and claimed the Pro ATV win on Sunday and regained the points lead from Josh Row. EXIT shock’s Robbie Mitchell had an impressive run to the end to claim the second spot on the WORCS Pro ATV podium followed by Maxxis’ David Haagsma
Saturday’s dust storm wreaked havoc on many racers, but for Sunday, the winds calmed a bit down to about 30 MPH, which was still windy, but it did not hamper visibility as it did during racing on Saturday.

The WORCS racing track at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds in Ridgecrest, California was very unique with a wide range of terrain from high speed off-road sections, motocross track, pavement section, and challenging obstacle from rock, dirt, and log piles to challenge the racers, which made for some exciting racing action.

The Pro ATV race began just after 11:00am and Elka Suspension’s Beau Baron was ready to take back his points lead after a disappointing round four when he suffered a rare mechanical issue. Baron came off the gate in the third spot, and he made quick work of Garrin Fuller and Robbie Mitchell to take over the lead by the end of lap two.

Once out front, Baron still had to push hard as Mitchell and Haagsma stayed within striking distance of Baron, and with just three laps to go, Baron stalled his quad in the logs, which allowed Mitchell to take over the lead.

“In the tenth lap, I came around this flat track corner on the asphalt and Alex Ortiz had spun out and got going again right in front of me. I had to follow him. I tried to get around him in the log section, but I ended up stalling my engine. It took me a while to get it started again. Robbie Mitchell had gone by me, and I put everything I had into it, and my Sparks engine got me caught up to him, and I was able to make the pass and take the win,” said Baron.

Baron’s battle for the lead in the final laps with Mitchell made some exciting racing action, and in the final lap, Baron was able to regain the lead on Mitchell to claim his third win of the season and regain the WORCS Pro ATV points lead heading into the final four rounds of the season.

LMR Racing’s Robbie Mitchell grabbed the Pro ATV holeshot and was looking strong, but Garrin Fuller soon made a pass on Mitchell for the lead. Mitchell then was passed by Beau Baron and fell to third, but Mitchell kept on the gas and was able to get by both Fuller and Baron when they encountered trouble on the track.
