WORCS Racing Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued:;
H&M Motorsports’ David Haagsma grabbed the
holeshot with his teammate Beau Baron was hot
on his heels. Haagsma held off Baron until lap
two and then fell back to second. Haagsma stayed
close, recording the fastest lap time of the race
in lap eight with a time of 09.20.690 and closed
in to within 9 seconds of Baron, but he was unable
to get close enough to make a move and settled
for a second place finish. “I had a great start
but Beau was right behind me and I ended up getting
pumped up a bit and he got by me. I stayed close
but I made a mistake and hit a cactus, so I had
to pull over and pull it out of my arm. I fell
back a bit, but I got back into second and I got
close to Beau again but I ended up in second,”
said Haagsma.

Baron & finished in the second |
EXIT Shock’s Robbie Mitchell was in second off
the start but fell back to fourth early in the
race. Mitchell rode a steady pace in the number
four spot for several laps before overtaking Garrin
Fuller and claiming third place for his third
straight Pro ATV podium finish to kick off the
year. “I had a great start, my DWT tires hooked
up great and my quad was running great. My plan
was to just go out there and finish, but I felt
pretty comfortable and I picked up the pace. I
ended up hitting a rock late in the race and messed
up my brake rotor, so I had to settle in third.
This is the first time I have been on the podium
three times in one season and it is awesome,”
said Mitchell.

Duncan Racing’s Garrin Fuller got a good start
and was able to move into the second spot late
in the race after passing Haagsma while he was
briefly sidelined dealing with a cactus, but Fuller
would spend most of his race battling with Mitchell,
and at the checkered flag, Fuller claimed the
fourth spot. “I actually got into second for a
while, me and Robbie Mitchell were battling really
hard for a big part of the race but I started
getting blisters really bad and that set me back.
Despite the blisters, I had a great race. Doug
Roll hooked me up and my quad worked flawlessly,”
said Fuller.

Pro Motorsports’ Jeff Hancock, Matt Hancock’s
big brother, decided to throw a leg over a quad
in the WORCS series for the first time in years,
and did fairly well as he rounded out the top
five. “It’s been about six years since I’ve raced
the pro class but it was a lot of fun. It’s getting
me back in shape for the Best in the Desert series.
My Pro Motorsports quad ran great out there and
I just had a really good time,” said Hancock.
