Race Report
::Continued::
“I thought I’d just win it with talent because
I’ve been training with fatty foods, whiskey,
and Geritol,” joked Shelman, who hails from nearby
Bonney Lake, WA. “I just came out here to have
fun because there are a lot of good people here
and this my hometown race. Plus, I like the trees
and I hate sand whoops. I was in fourth for a
while.

Tim Shelman came out of retirement to claim
a 6th place finish on his newly rebuilt
Honda 450R |
“I just wanted to beat Doug Eichner,” added Shelman.
“It was so cool to see him out here again. That
was really the highlight of the weekend for me.
Doug is 50 years old and I’m 45. The two of us
together are older than the entire rest of the
field combined.”

Six
Time WORCS Pro ATV Champion, Doug Eichner
came out retirment as well to compete in
the Pro ATV class |
Six-time WORCS Pro ATV Champion Doug Eichner
took a hiatus from retirement and ran the Pro
Class here. After running a competitive race,
Eichner finished seventh. “It’s been six years
since I raced a quad,” laughed the 50-year-old
Eichner. “This is the Pacific Northwest. All my
friends and family are out here. So I brought
the All American KTM out for a spin. I had a decent
start. I figured it was easier to start in the
front and work my way back. I was right with those
guys until we got into the trees. I hit the same
tree twice and hit some other trees. I got stuck
like four times, but I had a good time. It was
good to get out and ride with these guys again.
It’s amazing how fast David and Beau are.”

Even
at 50 years of age, Doug Eichner, was still
hard on the gas |
STI’s Mike Sloan clinched the Pro-Am Championship
with his eighth straight victory of the season
as he remains undefeated. David Flores, Alex Ortiz,

“My Duncan Racing motor fired up on the first
kick,” said Sloan. “The Elka suspension handled
all of the roughness out there. I got a great
start and built up a lead. I just rode smart.
It feels good to wrap up the title early.”
