Super
ATV's Katie Vernola claimed her first WORCS
Win & finished 4th in the championship
points race |
“This was three years in the making and it was
a crazy fun race,” said Vernola. “I knew that
I needed to be smooth and not over drive the car.
Once I got out front, I maintained my speed. I
had tons of bad luck this year. To come out with
the win at the last race of the season helps us
for next year. It was great to have my mom come
out and to have Niko’s mother come out. She is
battling breast cancer, so it was nice for her
to get out of the house and see me win. I truly
want to dedicate this to her.”

Amanda
Sorensen claimed her third podium finish
of the season with a 2nd place finish at
the season finale |
Romo was consistent all season. In all, she won
four races and recorded three podiums to win the
championship by nine points ahead of Weatherly.
She ran the race with a self-imposed crisis.
|
Sierra
Romo grabbed the holeshot & she went
on to finish in the third spot to clinch
the Women's SXS Championship |
“I was running first, hit a jump and my finger
accidently turned off the four wheel drive so
I ran most of the race in two wheel drive,” said
Romo. “Katie, Amanda and I really battled. I thought
something was wrong so I let them go past me.
I knew I only had to finish third or better and
I was stoked when I came across the finish line.
I plan to do Pro all year next year.”

For
the second straight race, Danielle Weatherly
went flipping at the start, but she still
managed to charge back up to 4th place |
In the SXS 1000 race, Sierra Romo’s father, Randy,
clinched the championship with a victory. He won
five races this season, and earned two additional
podiums.

Randy
Romo finished the season strong with wins
in both the SXS 1000 and SxS 1000 Stock
class & he clinched the SXS 1000 class
championship |
“Two more wins,” said Randy Romo. “I can’t be
more excited. We had been battling all year long
in SXS 1000. Payton Mills was a couple of seconds
behind me and I ended up gapping him at the end.
This year has been amazing. I couldn’t be more
excited about excited for her. We had two championships
between the two of us. She battled all year with
Danielle Weatherly and she did really well.”
Addict Racing’s Payton Mills secured an impressive
second place finish in the SXS 1000 class, and
he finished second in the championship points
race in his first year of WORCS racing. The North
Carolina racer traveled across the country with
the help of Owen Motorsports and Addict Racing
storing the machines for him and the entire team,
which were a great addition to the series in 2016.

Payton
Mills finished 2nd in the SxS 1000 Class
& he finished 2nd for the year in the
class |
The WORCS SXS racers will be back in action January
20-22 for the SXS World Finals. That race will
be held here at Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino.
