Primm, NV (10/26/2016) – Maxxis
/ Sparks’ David Haagsma added another Pro Championship
title to his collection by clinching the 2016 WORCS
Pro Production SxS Championship with the win at
the season finale. For Haagsma, it was one of many
that he has earned over the years including the
Pro ATV Championship in 2015.

The battle for the 2016 WORCS Pro SxS Championship
came down to the final round with an incredible
six drivers all within striking distance of the
top spot, which was tightest points battle in
WORCS Pro history. With beautiful weather and
perfectly watered track, Haagsma did just what
he needed to do. He took the holeshot, grabbed
the lead and wasn’t seriously challenged. Mickey
Thomas finished second in the race and the championship,
ahead of Ryan Piplic. Beau Baron and Jeffrey Obering
rounding out the top five.

Class |
“We came into this race two points behind Mickey
Thomas, and we knew it was going to come to him
and I battling for the lead,” said Haagsma. “He’s
an amazing driver and we’ve had battles all year.
He’s had some issues and I’ve had some issues.
So to win by one point is amazing. I have to thank
Sparks and Maxxis Tires. The car just hooked up
right at the start. I knew I had a good chance.
I just watched my pace and tried not to break
the car. I was definitely watching Mickey. I made
sure I had a comfortable gap, so as long as I
didn’t make a mistake I’d get the win.”

H&M Motorsports’ David Haagsma was happy

“We’ve had a lot of success during my WORCS career,”
said Haagsma. “This will probably be my last year
racing the RZR. I’m going to focus on racing ATVs
back east. I’ve had a lot of luck in Pro Am, and
Pro in ATVs and all of the lower classes in SXS
racing, so to get this one makes me very happy.
I just want to do one 100% back east and see how
things work out.”
