Lake Havasu, AZ - After three short weeks
off from racing the WORCS series, it was time to pack
up and head to the high temperatures of Lake Havasu, Arizona.
The temperatures were said to be in the high 80’s
all weekend long, and the weather men were right. We were
all very thankful that there was a lake within walking
distance that we could cool off in. In fact during the
race the riders ride right next to the lake, and if they
really wanted to, they could stop and take a swim to cool
off and then continue racing.
Because there is not much room for riding, the track
had to be cut down to just two and a half miles long,
which meant for a lot more laps. This could be the reason
why the racers say that this is the roughest track of
the year. Because of the short track, the race lengths
were shortened and the groups were split up into smaller
groups of classes, so there wouldn’t be as many
people out of the track at the same time.

After
Round Two, it was decided that all the Top 10
Pros were required to run their earned number
from 2006 race results, so Zach Herrera was forced
to retire #47 and replace it with #6, and Levi
Marana had to let go of his signature #501 in
place of the #10 for the remainder of the 2007
season. |
Despite the high temperatures and rough track, there
were still seventeen pros lined up to compete. Starting
at this round of the WORCS series, ATVRiders.com is
giving away a $100 Pro Holeshot Award. The idea came
together at round two, and with the help of Sligo Press,
Inc. the check was printed and sent to Arizona in time
for the Crazy Horse GP.
The pros lined up, and headed out for the parade lap,
and this time they would be riding around the entire
course, where as normally they just ride the motocross
section, and through the hot pits. After a few minutes
the pros were back and lined back up waiting for the
national anthem and one minute board.

#1
Doug Eichner grabbed the $100 ATVrideres.com Holeshot
Award |
Thirty seconds left until the start of the race, and
you could hear the engines reving up, as the green flag
flew into the air and the pros were off. It was the
reigning champion Doug Eichner who was able to grab
the Holeshot and one hundred bucks up for grabs from
ATVriders.com as well.
Around the second corner, it was still Doug Eichner
who was in the lead, but as the group left the second
corner two of the riders never made it out. Jeremy Schell
and Timothy Shelman crashed and it took them awhile
to get going once again, but they were both able to
mount the quads, and get back to racing.
