WORCS ATV Series
Round #3 - Crazy Horse
March 9-11, 2007 |
|
When the leaders came around, it was Doug Eichner who
was in the lead with Robbie Mitchell running in the second
place position followed by Josh Fredrick rounding out
the top three. Jeremy Schell who is usually in the front
of the pack was running in the fifteenth position. Tim
Shelman headed to his pits to fix his stabilizer before
returning to the race.

#48
Dustin Terry was on the move with his best race
of the year |
Doug Eichner was still leading three laps into the
race, and Josh Frederick was heading to the pits with
a flat right front tire, which dropped him back to fourth
place. Robbie Mitchell also ran into trouble, which
dropped him back to last place, which opened the door
Rookie Dustin Terry to take over the second spot followed
by John Shafe.
Just two laps later, Frederick was able to regain
the runners-up spot followed by Dustin Terry and Justin
Noss with Shafe dropping back to 8th place. A couple
of the riders including Doug Eichner were black flagged
because their kill switches had become detached from
their bodies. So they had to pull into the pit, and
fix it before they were allowed back out onto the track.
This cost Eichner a few seconds, but he was still in
the lead.
Jeremy Schell was on the move, working his way into
the fourth place position by the half way mark of the
race. Josh Frederick was reeling in Doug Eichner closing
the gap lap by lap. Meanwhile team mate Jeremy Schell
made his way around Dustin Terry giving him the third
position, and pushing Terry into the fourth spot. John
Shafe moved back up to the fifth position followed by
Mike Cafro in the sixth spot.

Josh Frederick has kicked off the 2007 season
with three consecutive wins while Doug Eichner
prepares to make the switch to the Polaris Outlaw
525 |
#3
Brandon Brown hasn't been able to get into a groove
in 2007 as he remains out of the top 10 in points,
but don't count him out just yet. |
With the clock winding down, Eichner was still holding
the lead, but Frederick had made up over a minute and
a half with less than thirty seconds separating the
pair. But shortly after the last lap started, Doug Eichner
stalled it right after the hot pits. It took him quite
awhile to get his Honda running again, and more than
enough time for Frederick to close the gap and make
the pass and take over the lead.
Josh Frederick was able to take the win with Doug Eichner
taking the checkered over a minute later followed by
Jeremy Schell rounding out the Podium. The top three
riders lapped the rest of the field and incredible 16
laps along the way on the short Crazy Horse GP track.
Dustin Terry recorded his best Pro race of the year
with a 4th place finish followed by John Shafe.
For Doug Eichner this will be last race on the Honda
450R as he will be making the switch to the Polaris
Outlaw 525 for the Round 4 at Payette, ID on April 6-8th.
The reigning champion has been plagued with a string
of bad luck to start of the 2007 season, but hopefully
the Outlaw 525 will be a breath of fresh air for Eichner,
but time will tell if this will be the year for Frederick
to run away with his first ever WORCS Championship.
