WORCS ATV Racing

Payette, Idaho- After three rounds of racing in the southwest desert terrain, the WORCS series headed north to the grass hills of Payette, Idaho for a dramatic change in scenario. Instead of high speed flats, racers would face monstrous hill climbs with some treacherous descents, which provided a new challenge to the racers not seen so far this season.

#15 Ryan Piplic showed up with his new KFX450R after skipping the past few rounds of racing
The weekend started out picture perfect with mild temperatures and sunny skies, which provided for a great day of racing on Saturday, but everything changed Saturday night when rain moved in and dowsed the track, which turned it into a muddy mess for Sunday. With the dramatic change in the track condition, the pros scrambled to water proof their ATVs along with providing protection for their radiators from being clogged with mud, which can melt down an engine in no time from the lack of proper air cooling.

For Doug Eichner, the sloppy conditions wasn’t anything new to him after years of racing, but he would be facing these conditions for the first time on his brand new Polaris Outlaw 525, which replaces his Honda 450R for the rest of the season. It was announced that Eichner signed with Polaris several weeks prior, but Eichner held out on making the switch until he could get all the aftermarket components to convert it into pro caliber WORCS race ready machine. The biggest change was the addition of the FOX Racing Shox’s on the front and the rear along with a Duncan Exhaust and engine tuning, but otherwise, the Outlaw 525 remained amazingly virtually stock besides other minor bolt on accessories.

With a total of 18 Pro Riders, the gate was nearly full once again as they lined up for the start of the Pro Main, which is unlike any other start of the season as the Pros face one of the longest and steepest starts of the season, and when the gate dropped, it would be none other than Doug Eichner grabbing the ATVriders.com Holeshot Award aboard his Polaris Outlaw 525 as he outrun Jeremy Schell, Josh Frederick, Johnny Shafe, and Levi Marna to the top of the hill.
