Motosport's Levi Marana |
Things went from bad to worse for Schell when his front
tire dismounted the bead, which sent him tumbling down
and his quad pinning him to the ground. With his legs
wrapped up in the nerf bars under the quad, Schell couldn’t
move to free himself, and Levi Marana spotted Schell
in need. Marana pulled over and helped his fellow racer
get free from the wreckage and sacrificed his own Podium
position as he dropped from third back to seventh place
while assisting Jeremy Schell.
With Schell and Marana temporarily sidelined, Dustin
Terry took over the third spot followed by Mike Cafro,
but their run near the front would be short lived as
Dustin Terry quickly faded back to seventh place over
the next few laps, and Mike Cafro engine began leaking
oil, which ended his race day early.

Doug Eichner charges through the Pits in the lead
with Frederick on the hunt as he works his way
through the pack passing riders like #4 Robbie
Mitchell among others

Meanwhile, Doug Eichner was on the move as Josh Frederick
began to close the gap as he recorded the fastest laptime
of the race, which was over 5 seconds faster than Eichner’s
fastest lap on the second lap. When the checkered flag
came out, it was Eichner claiming the win with Frederick
less than four seconds behind.
"This is a great day, not only for me and getting
my first win for 2007, but giving the factory Polaris
team its very first Pro event win in any motorsport.
Those guys have been behind me all year along with my
mechanic Leonard Duncan, the Duncan crew and the FOX
shocks boys who came out today to help and watch. I'm
very happy today," said Eichner.
The big surprise of the day was third place finisher,
John Shafe, as he charged his way from nearly last place
to secure the final spot on the Podium. Amazingly, Jeremy
Schell was able to rebound from his wreck to finish
in fourth place only 8 seconds behind Shafe with Levi
Marana rounding out the top five.

Johnny Shafe roosted his way through the pack

Levi Marana was recognized by the WORCS staff
for his "Sportmanship" |
Levi Marana might not have added another podium finish
to his resume, but he sure did set the example of a
true sportsman, which is worth more in the eye of his
sponsors and fellow riders than a podium finish.
The 2007 WORCS season has passed the half way point
with Josh Frederick maintaining a significant points
lead over Doug Eichner in the second spot with 44 points
separating the pair. Jeremy Schell is currently holding
down third with 94 points with Levi Marana and john
Shafe only a few points behind, so the chase is still
on with the next round heading north to Toutle, Washington
on June 15-17th for Round Six at Riverdale Raceway.
