However, if by some chance you do get stuck, the
Commander 1000XT comes with a 4,000 pound WARN winch.
“I really liked the winch because you can use
the wired remote or it also has a button inside the
cab, which is a great feature,” Hill said

As with any UTV, safety is always taken into consideration
and the Commander has several features that we thought
were quite good. The passenger hand holds are in good
locations, including one mounted right on the dash
directly in front of the passenger and another on
the side. Can-Am has also taken into consideration
of place where you should not put your hands and has
taken measures to keep the passenger safe.
The roll cage down bars, in the front, have a gusset
with a plate so you can’t put your hand in there
to hold on, which is a good idea because that would
be bad if you rolled it and had your hand in there.
I also liked that if you don’t have your seatbelt
on, the throttle limiter will go into limp mode,”
said Hill.

Can-Am
designed the Commander 1000 XT Side-by-Side
with convenience in mind when it comes down
to maintenance on the machine. Both the airbox
& oil dipstick can be accessed with little
or no tools in a matter of seconds. The airbox
is located under the hood panel & the
oil dipstick is located under the passenger
seat

Maintenance on the Commander is easy as the air filter
is located right under the front scoop and is accessible
without any tools. Its location is also high enough
to keep it dry in most situations. The oil dipstick
is located under the passenger seat and requires you
to remove the passenger seat to check the oil, but
it is easily accomplished.
