Winnsboro, SC – Tuesday,
we at ATVRiders.com were witness to the first
fully American redesigned and produced Honda Foreman
500’s rolling off the assembly line at Honda’s
manufacturing plant in Timmonsville, South Carolina
and now today, we had the opportunity to take
out the Foreman 500 for a test ride and see for
ourselves the quality and innovation behind the
Honda Foreman 500..
This is the fifth generation of the Honda Foreman
to be released, and it was the first of its
kind to be developed in Ohio and put into production
in South Carolina, where previously, any new
models were developed in Japan. Another key
point for Honda with this release was that they
wanted to refine the Foreman, but they also
wanted to maintain the features and quality
their existing customers have come to expect
from the Foreman model line.

The Honda Foreman received several upgrades
for 2012 with an all new liquid cooled engine,
new fuel injection, redesigned front and rear
suspension system along with styling to name
a few, but despites all these changes, The Foreman
pricing only increased $100 for all four different
model configurations for 2012, which in this
economy, has a lot of appeal.
For our test ride, we headed out to Carolina
Adventure World which was an ideal location
to test out the Honda Foreman 500 with its wide
variety of terrain from rocky water crossings
to see how it handled going over obstacles and
through water, hill climbs to test the power,
tight trails for testing agility, and high speed
areas to see how fast we could get going. The
weather was perfect for our adventure with temps
in the 70’s and only a few scattered clouds,
making for a very enjoyable ride.
When we first saw the 2012 Honda Foreman 500
at the unveiling, we couldn’t help but
notice the aggressive new body styling, which
we really liked as it is far more attractive
than previous models, which gives the quad an
updated look. We would appreciate the larger
fenders even more out on our test ride as the
redesign not only looks good but also offered
improved mud and splash protection as splashed
through the creek crossings and mud holes.
