Phoenix, AZ - Polaris has consistently pushed the envelope in performance with their Ranger RZR line of SXS vehicles. In 2008, Polaris announced the original RZR 800, which was the first high performance trail capable side by side with a width of only 50 inches. The following year, Polaris released the RZR S with its wider width targeted for wide open spaces. Once again, in 2010, Polaris surprised everyone with the creation of a new market segment with the release of the RZR 4, which was the first ever four passenger performance side by side. Now for the fourth straight year, Polaris has expanded their Ranger RZR lineup with the all-new high performance 2011 Polaris RZR XP 900.

The new Polaris RZR XP 900 was announced to the public on 1/1/11, and Polaris has been quick to point out that the RZR XP is not just a reworked RZR of past years. The XP has an all new Pro Star 900 engine that produces 88 HP at the crank and is coupled to a new purpose built highly efficient transmission/rear gear case combination.

Dual 46mm Mikuni throttle bodies power the 875cc Pro Star Engine
This new engine combination is mounted in a front to rear configuration instead of side to side as with previous RZR models. The Pro Star 900 engine is fed by dual 46mm Mikuni throttle bodies that are mounted extremely close to the engine for the best possible throttle response. This engine and transmission arrangement transfers 65 percent more power to the ground than RZR 800. The XP 900 accelerates 29 percent quicker than the nearest competitor thanks to its superior HP to weight ratio.

As the performance of an engine increases so do the demands on the cooling system. Polaris has redesigned the front grill to maximize inlet air to the all new larger radiator. Front air dams have been placed on both sides of the front facial these dams direct air out and around the chassis creating a low pressure zone behind the radiator and helping to keep hot air from building up behind the fenders.
