The stock foot pegs worked fine for Jarrod,
but for a taller rider, the pegs may be a little
high, but this issue was easily corrected with
GYTR nerf bars, which have an adjustable foot
peg height, and both are lower than stock, which
will work great for taller riders.

The
photos above demonstrate the difference
in foot peg height between the stock foot
pegs and the GYTR nerf bar pegs. The (Blue
Arrows) points to the chain guide bolt
hole, which is nearly covered up by the
stock pegs, but fully exposed with the
GYTR pegs, and the GYTR pegs are also
adjustable from .75" lower to 1.25"
lower if mounted were the (yellow arrow)

in the ride especially for taller riders |
The ITP Quadcross tires were also a noticeable
improvement on the motocross track while the stock
tires worked great on the trails, and the Quadcross
tires were a perfect match to the track conditions,
which dramatically improved handling and allowed
for improved cornering ability and completely
eliminated any sidewall roll felt on the stock
tires. “The ITP Quadcross tires really improved
the handling of the quad, but dropping from a
20” rear tire to an 18” rear, made
the YFZ450R seem like it needed to have an extra
gear when it was topped out, but that can be easily
fixed by changing the gearing a little bit,”
said McClure.

Yamaha
GYTR will be offering the ITP tires already
mounted on ITP T-9 wheels, so they are
ready to bolt on upon arrival |
GYTR
also offers a kill-switch, which is designed
to plug right into the wiring harness
without any wiring splicing |
The YFZ450R’s ergonomics and more comfortable
design make it very easy to get use to out on
the track, and after Jarrod had some time to get
comfortable with most of the jumps on the track,
he hooked up with Dustin Nelson to really see
what the YFZ450R could do as they hit the track
hard for the duration of a pro moto. “This
quad is amazing on the motocross track. It didn’t
take me any time to get use to it, and I was very
comfortable with it after only a few laps. I’m
not really a motocrosser, but I felt comfortable
enough to follow Dustin off of the uphill triple,”
stated Jarrod. “The YFZ450R feels light
and maneuverable. Even if you get crossed up on
a jump, it’s easy to bring it back into
shape.”

Yamaha's Dustin Nelson & #14 ATVriders.com's
Jarrod McClure raced each other around
the LACR motocross track for nearly 20
minutes as Jarrod became even more comfortable
on the motocross track and the YFZ450R
because before this trip out to California
Jarrod hasn't had much motocross experience
especially on a stock ATV since he spends
most of his time training in the woods
for the GNCC Series |
