PERFORMANCE

Rotax V-Twin 1000
At the core of the Outlander rests a dominant 80º 976cc liquid-cooled Rotax V-Twin power plant that produces an industry-leading* 82 horsepower and a whopping 17 percent more power than any competitive ATV in the market. With an unmatched power-toweight ratio, 65.1 lbs.-ft. of torque and electronic fuel injection (46mm throttle body), the single overhead cam engine is as efficient and refined as it is raw and invigorating. Regardless of temperature or altitude, EFI ensures optimal performance from the engine at all times. Despite its unprecedented performance levels, the eight-valve engine remains controllable and offers useable power for a wide array of riders and situations. Progressive throttle control means the power remains manageable in slow-speed circumstances or during a flat-out sprint.

Dual-room, no-tools air box
The Outlander 1000 X mr air box is placed at a higher and more centralized location for filtering and processing air. The no-tools air box features a dual-room design that improves the air filtration process and the quality of air by capturing dirty air in one portion of the box and clean air in another section before it sends the air to the engine. The air intake is also higher in the frame to improve the machine’s capabilities in the mud and water. Accessing the filter for maintenance and inspection only requires the removal of the seat, console plastic and exterior push plate. The air filter is securely attached to the air box housing with a screw-on system and push plate that work in tandem to create a tight seal.

Revised mud-ready CVT with lower “L” gear range
The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on the Outlander 1000 X mr has an extra low range “L-gear” with a softer engagement and improved throttle control. The CVT system improves the transmission performance in wet terrain and conditions with its secure, 13-bolt sealing system. A dedicated drain plug is built into the cover and easily accessible if the need ever arises to remove water from the CVT housing. The CVT intake is at a higher location in the chassis for optimal performance in wet riding conditions.

Integrated CVT intake and exhaust system
BRP has made sure that critical components like the CVT intake, CVT exhaust and engine intake are located as high as possible on the ATV. We placed them in the pod directly in front of the handlebars and high above the muddy, wet conditions below.

Large, relocated radiator
Located on the front rack, the larger radiator on the Can-Am Outlander X mr is kept out of the muddy water and wears a protective, vented cover, ensuring all-day rides in the deep mud.

High-grade exhaust and silencer
The Outlander has a durable end cap/cover on its silencer to contribute to the exhaust’s upper-class appearance. The system remains true to the Can-Am tradition of producing a throaty and impressive exhaust note, yet adheres to strict dB and emissions standards.

HANDLING

SST G2 frame with Geometric Contact Control (59-inch)
The Outlander 1000 X mr uses the industry-exclusive Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) frame and 59-inch wheelbase of the Outlander MAX platform. The welded-steel frame incorporated certain processes and proven geometry for increased structural integrity, improved durability and precision handling. The more efficient SST design offers increased strength compared to a traditional tubular steel frame, a lower center of gravity, better handling and requires far less components, materials and welds. Engineers incorporated almost 16 percent less parts on the frame. The frame is more durable and can accept more than two times greater force and has twice the torsional stiffness as the original chassis. This frame more properly meets the high expectations of the end user for both work and play.

Tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)
The Can-Am Tri-Mode DPS system is outfitted with three separate selectable levels of steering assistance: Minimum, Medium or Maximum. Dynamic Power Steering provides variable steering assistance no matter what mode the rider chooses for the terrain. The system is designed to offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed. All DPS-equipped models also come with the Visco-Lok QE.

Visco-Lok QE
QE stands for quicker engagement. All DPS-equipped models come with the Visco-Lok QE calibration giving an even quicker engagement of the front differential. It progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one – automatically with no buttons to push or levers to pull. Plus, there’s no wheel hop or driveline wind-up so the system is totally transparent to the driver and extremely easy to steer. Can lock up to 100 percent with no rev or speed limiter. This differential, unlike some competitor’s differentials, does not have a speed or rev limiter.

Double A-arm front suspension with dive-control geometry
The front suspension features a dive-control and anti-kickback geometry that positions the pivot points in space instead of simply adding stiffer shocks and springs. The geometry also inspires confidence-reducing kickback to the operator by locating the knuckle in the wheel. This front suspension gives the Outlander improved ride quality and comfort without hampering handling. Five-way preload shocks that offer more than an inch of additional suspension travel for both trail comfort and aggressive riding situations. Front-end suspension travel is 9 inches (22.9 cm).

Trailing Torsional Independent (TTI) rear suspension
Unique to Can-Am and inspired by trophy trucks, the proven Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) rear suspension offers increased rigidity, improved suspension travel at 9.3 inches (23.6 cm) and includes a removable external sway bar. The TTI, which offers up to 75 percent less moving parts than competitive systems, was designed to eliminate tire scrub and camber changes when the suspension moves up and down. This setup improves ride quality and suspension travel, keeps the ATV in a straight line and requires less steering adjustments than competitive models. Lower pivot points provide geometric squatting for improved traction and the transfer of power to the ground.

FOX RC2.0 fully adjustable shocks, front and rear
New for 2015, the shocks on the Outlander 1000 X mr have been changed from ACS to fully adjustable FOX RC2.0 shocks (borrowed from the Outlander XT-P models) so riders can dial in their suspension for any mud bog or trail they encounter.

214mm disc brakes with twin-piston calipers
The 2015 Outlander 1000 family features outboard hydraulic disc brakes. The front setup uses large 214mm disc brakes with twin-piston calipers for superior stopping power. At the rear, the models use a single twin-piston caliper and 214mm hydraulic disc brake that is located in the right, rear wheel.

14-inch (35.6cm) ITP cast-aluminum wheels
The tall, ITP cast-aluminum wheels and stylish SS wheel hubcap work in tandem to give the Outlander X mr an aggressive look.

30-inch (76.2cm) Gorilla Axle Silver back tires
The proven 30-inch Gorilla Axle Silverback tires were chosen for their exceptional mud-riding characteristics. Developed by Gorilla Axle for mud riding and racing, these tires have been tested in the deepest mud holes of east Texas and Louisiana. With a tall lug and aggressive tread pattern the tires offer superb mud performance, yet a smooth ride when traveling to the mud hole.

Standard skid plate
The high-strength skid plate is made from proven materials and is designed for supreme protection and has the ability to slide over certain obstacles.
