Dustin Wimmer Interview:
2009 AMA Pro ATV Motocross - Continued
ATVriders.com:
Speaking of “anything can happen,”
this last round a Pleasure Valley had some
incredible up’s and down’s in
the second moto. What was going through your
head during all of that?
Dustin
Wimmer: It was just all happening
so fast, I really didn’t have time to
think about anything except staying focused
on my riding and staying in front.

Dustin Wimmer claimed yet another win
at Pleasure Valley's Round 9, which
came with a bit of luck when Joe Byrd
& Josh Creamer locked wheels in
the final turn of the 2nd Moto, which
opened the door for Wimmer to take the
win and move back on top in the points
chase |
ATVriders.com:
In the final turn of the last round Josh Creamer
and Joe Byrd were in front of you and things
were getting pretty heated. Did you see what
happened when they connected?
Dustin
Wimmer: I didn’t really
see what happened. By the time I got there
they were already stuck.

Dustin
Wimmer recently participated in the
Breezewood Proving Grounds Dream Camp
by providing a day of instruction (Dream
Camp Report) |
ATVriders.com:
You recently were at Breezewood where they had
the Motocross Dream Camp. What did you think
of that?
Dustin
Wimmer: I had a really good
time out there. Jason Dunkleberger and I had
a really good time instructing the classes and
talking to all the students, who had a really
good time to.
ATVriders.com::
Are you going to be doing any other riding
schools?
Dustin
Wimmer: I’m going to
be doing another school at Atco and there’s
talk of another school at Breezwood. If Dan
calls me to do that and I’m available,
I will definitely be there.
ATVriders.com:
The ATV Open Invitational will be coming up
pretty soon, what are your thoughts on that?
| Dustin
Wimmer: I’m looking
forward to it. I’m hoping I win the
championship and go out there in good spirits
and win that too.
ATVriders.com:
The off-season is going to be coming up pretty
soon. There have been rumors that you might
be racing at a couple of the GNCC rounds.
Is that true?
Dustin
Wimmer: Yes, I plan to do
a couple of those, probably Unadilla and St.
Clairsville. I’m having a bike built
for that that’s similar to what Chris
Borich is running.

Good
Friend's Dustin Wimmer & Pat Brown
both raced at the Powerline Park GNCC
in 2006 with Wimmer racing on a bone
stock LTR450, and he hasn't been back
since, but this year, he plans on racing
a few rounds of the GNCC Series on a
race ready LTR450 similar to current
points leader, Chris Borich |
ATVriders.com:
You raced a GNCC back in 2006. How did that
go for you?
Dustin
Wimmer: Not so good. I was
on a bone stock Suzuki LTR450 that I bought
on the way to the track. It was really rough
and it was a tough race for me, but I just
went out there to have fun and that’s
exactly what happened.
ATVriders.com:
It’s also rumored that you may also
race at one of the New England ATV Motocross
Series rounds.
Dustin
Wimmer: I was thinking about
racing the round at Walden, NY. I’ve
heard some good things about the series so
it would be fun to check it out.
ATVriders.com:
It’s a little early in the season to
ask this, but do you plan to stay with Suzuki
for the 2010 season?
Dustin Wimmer:
Yes. I signed a two-year deal, so I will definitely
be with Suzuki again next season.
ATVriders.com:
This year, there was no TV coverage for the
AMA ATV Motocross Championships. What kind
of impact do you think that had on the industry?
Dustin
Wimmer: It’s definitely
not good when there is a lack of coverage.
It’s too bad the economy is the way
it is. Hopefully next year it will get the
coverage it deserves.

A
healthy Dustin Wimmer should make for
an exciting finish to the the 2009 AMA
ATV Motocross Championship Series, but
there are still 4 Motos of racing remaining
in the 2009 season, so anything can
still happen with Joe Byrd & Chad
Wienen within striking distance |
ATVriders.com:
Next year there’s a possibility that
the ATV’s will be running with the bikes
for more than one round. What do you think
about that?
Dustin
Wimmer: I think that would
be great. It would definitely bring a bigger
spectator crowd and get more coverage. I think
it would be good for our industry.
ATVriders.com:
Thanks for talking to us today Dustin and
best of luck to you at Red Bud!
Dustin
Wimmer: Thank you!
