Kyle Chaney SxS Championship Interview

Kyle Chaney GNCC Racing SxS Championship Interview
::Continued::

ATVriders.com: Can-Am also just released the new Maverick Turbo, which probably won’t be allowed to race in the GNCC with the current rules, but there were plenty of updates that could be used from it on the other Can-Am Maverick models?
Kyle Chaney: Yes! I’m running a few of their things right now, and a few new things that we are going to try. I can’t really say what we will end up with and running but we will be doing some testing this winter with them and going from there.

Kyle Chaney has already starting running some parts off the 2015 Can-Am Maverick Turbo & he plans on doing more testing over the winter with some of the updates found on the Turbo Can-Am Maverick

ATVriders.com: And speaking of which, what are your plans for this Winter and training?
Kyle Chaney:Like I said, we have some new sponsors coming on board and we pretty much have the Can-Am Maverick to where it’s bulletproof, and I feel like I could go out there and race ten hours on it and it’d still be fine. But, we just have a little bit of stuff that can always be better.

ATVriders.com: For you, is it tough for you only having six rounds to race in the GNCC Series? Would you want to see them do something different rather than have that big break in the middle of the season?
Kyle Chaney:Yeah, I wish they did! I think a whole lot of other people wish they would as well and do at least an eight round series. A six round series, you know, is hard for us to get a big budget from sponsors for only six rounds, so that hurts us a bit. I’m doing some other series and just kind of doing my own thing and doing as much racing as I can. My main focus is of course the GNCC, and the other racing series are just for testing and to see what we are doing and if it’s paying off or not.

ATVriders.com: For you, is it tough for you only having six rounds to race in the GNCC Series? Would you want to see them do something different rather than have that big break in the middle of the season?
Kyle Chaney: Well, I didn’t really even get a race out there. My buddy, Kyle, lent me race his Maverick after he raced the novice class and it was pretty tore up. The thing had a broken axle and a bunch of other stuff. The car I was supposed to run ended up having some issues at the track and I never ended up with the ability to race. I don’t know though, if they want to help with a car for next year and run it out there, that would be great, but my main focus is going to be on the East coast for sure.

ATVriders.com: With only six rounds, what do you do with yourself in between racing, what’s your day-to-day schedule look like?
Kyle Chaney: I am part owner of a concrete cutting company and that’s my main job. Other than that, I’m an avid hunter and I like to go to the gym and spend time with my girlfriend as well.

ATVriders.com: Do you only race SxS’s right now?
Kyle Chaney: Yeah, I was actually going to race my dirt bike at Ironman and test that out, but it actually got stolen before the race, so I didn’t get to race that. It was at my parent’s house in the garage, and it got stolen out of it.

ATVriders.com: What other series do you do?
Kyle Chaney: I do the AWRCS and the WEXCR series and those have a few more rounds each so I’m pretty much racing every single weekend. I didn’t race those two this year as a series, and just a few here and there, and I think Hendershot won both of those, and I used them as a testing ground for my machines and the GNCC. I do believe I’m going to try to do them all this next year however.

ATVriders.com: For you, you finally ended Yokley’s reign of winning and ending his winning streak of five-straight championships. He’s been undefeated the undefeated Champion since SxS racing was added to GNCC racing, so how big of a deal is it to you to be the only other guy besides Yokley to take that number one plate?
Kyle Chaney:Oh I mean, I guess it is a big deal. He’s a great driver and I know he’s going to be coming back even stronger next year and it’s a game of being smart, and fast and good at the same time. It’s not like a dirt bike where you’re fast. You have to be a lot of things and be patient with lappers and you gotta be lucky too! Yokley has definitely been the best up until this year, and I’m betting we haven’t seen the last of him.
